Longines Conquest Two-Tone: the Swiss dress watch with fluted bezel and integrated bracelet

This Longines watch belongs to the Conquest line, one of the historic collections of the Swiss maison founded in 1832 in Saint-Imier. Unisex, it can be worn by both a man and a woman. Its two-tone case combines a steel case with a gold-plated fluted bezel, whose rounded crown-like segments form the piece’s visual signature. The case measures 32mm (34mm with the crown) for a Lug-to-lug of 34mm and a thickness of just 5.2mm. A remarkably slim watch, made to slip under a cuff.

The silvered dial is structured around a numbered minute track, printed around the periphery in increments of five, which gives it an unexpectedly technical look for a dress piece. Applied gilt baton indexes punctuate the outer edge, interrupted by small applied dots that catch the light. The date window is positioned at 3 o’clock. Longines’ winged hourglass and the maison name occupy the upper part of the dial, with Quartz at the bottom. Two gilt hands and a fine blackened seconds hand complete the display.

At its heart beats the Longines L161 caliber, a Swiss quartz movement with three hands and date, built on an ETA base. It is a reliable and thoroughly documented caliber, making servicing straightforward with any watchmaker: in practice, a battery change is all that is required. The movement of this example has been checked by our watchmaker and the battery replaced before shipment.

On the wrist, the two-tone integrated bracelet extends the case seamlessly: steel links enhanced with grooved gold-plated inserts, secured by a Buckle deployant clasp. This very 1980s two-tone language pairs equally well with a gold wedding band or a steel signet ring. The bracelet is original and fits a wrist up to 16cm; an extension can be added for a larger wrist.

Three points to note

  • The gold-plated fluted bezel is the signature of this Conquest: its rounded crown-like segments immediately set it apart from a standard smooth bezel.
  • The original bracelet fits a wrist up to 16cm. An extension can be added if necessary: please write to us before purchase.
  • The gold plating on the bezel and links shows visible wear consistent with the age of the piece. We prefer to disclose it rather than embellish it.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Longines Conquest line?
The Conquest is one of Longines' historic collections, born in the 1950s and since produced in many forms, both mechanical and quartz. It brings together watches with a refined design, halfway between dress and sporty, designed for everyday wear. This example is an ultra-thin two-tone version from the 1980s, with a fluted bezel and integrated bracelet.

What is a fluted bezel?
Fluting consists of rounded, domed segments arranged in a crown, a decorative motif inherited from goldsmithing. On this Conquest, they encircle the dial with a gold-plated ring that catches the light in successive facets. It is the most characteristic feature of this piece, the one that makes it identifiable at first glance.

Is the Longines L161 caliber reliable?
Yes. The L161 is a Swiss three-hand quartz movement with date, built on an ETA base. It is precisely what makes it so strong: the caliber is fully documented and its parts remain accessible, making servicing simple with any watchmaker. In practice, a battery change is all that is needed. The movement in this example has been checked by our watchmaker and is guaranteed for 1 year.

Is this Longines Conquest water-resistant?
No. Water resistance is never guaranteed on a vintage watch: the original gaskets have aged and the case back pressure is no longer what it was on day one. Avoid the shower, the pool, and the sea. However, brief contact with rainwater does not pose any difficulty.

Which wrist does this watch suit?
With a 32mm case and a Lug-to-lug of 34mm, this Conquest is a versatile dress format, discreet on both a masculine and a feminine wrist. Please note, however: the original bracelet fits a wrist circumference of up to 16cm maximum. If yours is larger, an extension can be added by a watchmaker; write to us before your purchase.
