Seiko Noie Dual Time: the Japanese dress watch with two movements and dual time zone
This Seiko watch is a Dual Time piece with dual time display, from the feminine dress line Noie, recognizable by the small golden hexagonal “N” logo. Unisex, it can be worn equally well by a man or by a woman who appreciates watches with an original character. Its tonneau gold-plated case, with sculpted sides, houses two stacked dials. The light dial is structured around two independent registers. The upper one, with Arabic numerals, and the lower one, framed by a railroad minute track, each display a distinct time. Inside beat two independent quartz movements, one per dial, each driven by its own crown. This is what sets this Dual Time apart from a simple GMT: the two displays are completely independent and can be set separately. The movements of this example have been checked by our watchmaker and the batteries replaced before shipment. Seiko has not published a precision specification for these calibers: we therefore make no numerical claim.
On the wrist, the piece embraces dressy originality. The warm gold plating and the tonneau vertical silhouette create a watch with character, here подчеркlined by a dark brown crocodile-style leather strap. What is the dual time display for?
The two dials operate independently and can display two different times. You keep your home time on one dial and that of another time zone on the second: practical for travel, international work, or to stay in sync with a loved one abroad. Each dial is adjusted via its own crown.
Why does this Seiko have two crowns?
Because it houses two independent quartz movements, one per dial. Each crown controls its own display, making it possible to set the two time zones separately. It is a rarer and more accomplished construction than a simple GMT mechanism with a single hand, and that is the very horological appeal of this piece.
What does the "N" logo on the dial mean?
The small gold hexagonal "N" logo is the signature of the Seiko Noie line, a dress collection from the brand. It is an original element, characteristic of this range, confirming its belonging and authenticity.
Is this Seiko Dual Time water-resistant?
No. Water resistance is never guaranteed on a vintage watch: the original gaskets have aged and the caseback pressure is no longer what it was on day one. Avoid the shower, the pool, and the sea. A simple contact with rainwater, however, does not pose any difficulty.
Is it a rather masculine or feminine watch?
