Seiko Noie Baignoire: the small feminine dress watch with white dial and blued hands
This Seiko watch belongs to the Noie line, the Japanese house’s feminine dress collection, recognizable by the small gold hexagonal “N” logo placed at 6 o’clock. Its Baignoire shape, a vertically elongated oval, gives it a soft, graphic silhouette, far removed from the conventional roundness of ladies’ watches. It is a simple and reliable movement, designed to disappear in service of the design. The movement of this example has been checked by our watchmaker and the battery replaced before shipment. Seiko has not published a precision specification for this caliber: we therefore make no numerical claim.
On the wrist, the piece favors the role of a discreet jewel rather than an instrument. The vertical Baignoire shape and polished steel catch the light through their curves alone, without bezel or applied ornament. The watch is currently fitted with a black grained leather strap, with a steel pin buckle, which is not original but suits the sobriety of the whole. The Lug width of 12 mm is typical of ladies’ watches; replacement straps are chosen accordingly in fine widths.
