Seiko rectangular steel: the Japanese dress watch with a vivid blue dial
This Seiko watch is a dress watch for both men and women, designed in the classic vocabulary of 1970s shaped watches. Its rectangular case in brushed steel, with clean sides and fine lugs, cultivates a restrained and timeless elegance. The case measures 23mm (24.5mm with the crown) for a Lug-to-lug of 31mm and a thickness of 8.2mm, Crystal included. A compact piece, made to be worn every day as well as for de ville attire.
The blue dial is the watch's great asset. Its brushed surface, in a luminous turquoise blue, changes in depth according to the angle of light, a rare and vivid color on an period piece. Applied baton indexes rhythm the perimeter, and two steel baton hands are sufficient for the display: no date, no seconds hand. The small period Seiko medallion sits beneath the center of the dial, under the Seiko Quartz signature. A pared-back design, entirely in the service of color.
Inside beats the Seiko caliber 4130, a quartz movement from the first compact generation of Seiko, reserved for high-end watches, often in gold. It is distinguished by a rate-adjustment trimmer and a thermal compensation capacitor, rare refinements on a battery-powered movement. Its original stated precision was ±20 seconds per month. The movement of this example has been checked by our watchmaker and the battery replaced before shipment.
On the wrist, the piece behaves like a discreet jeweler's watch. The brushed steel and blue dial make for a sober, graphic ensemble, here enhanced by deep black genuine crocodile leather that highlights the color of the dial. This strap is not original; it is fitted with a steel pin buckle. The Lug width of 17mm leaves the choice of replacement straps open.

- The 4130 caliber is a high-end quartz movement equipped with fine rate adjustment: a carefully crafted movement, originally reserved for the most highly regarded dress watches from Seiko.
- The blue dial bears a few diffuse micro-pits, visible up close: a trace of age that we prefer to point out rather than embellish.
- The brushed steel shows superficial micro-scratches from use, consistent with the age of the piece.

No. It is an authentic Seiko, signed on the dial and engraved with its reference 4130-5010. Is this blue dial original?

Is this Seiko 4130-5010 water-resistant?
No. Water resistance is never guaranteed on a vintage watch: the original seals have aged and the pressure on the case back is no longer what it was on day one. Avoid the shower, the pool, and the sea. A simple exposure to rainwater, however, does not pose any issue.
Does a 23mm rectangular case suit which wrist?
On a rectangular watch, it is the Lug-to-lug that matters: 31mm here, which places the piece on wrists from 14 to 18cm. If any element has been replaced during the life of the watch (dial, hands, crown, Crystal, strap), we systematically indicate it in the product sheet. You buy knowing the exact history of your piece.
