The automatic elegance of a 1960s Seamaster

This Omega Seamaster Cosmic from 1967 embodies the golden age of Omega watchmaking, when the brand offered robust and accessible dress watches, powered by exceptional in-house movements. Its sunburst grey dial captures the light in a subtle gradient, enhanced by applied indexes and Arabic numerals on the rehaut, with a date window at 3 o'clock. A sober and timeless dress watch, with a typically vintage charm.

The Seamaster is the oldest line still produced by Omega: launched in 1948 for the brand's centenary, it made water resistance its signature. The Cosmic sub-family, introduced in 1966, showed that the Seamaster could be much more than a simple diving watch — an elegant automatic for everyday wear. Its monocoque case (a single-piece case, known as an “Unishell”) makes it particularly resistant to water and dust; on the caseback appears the famous seahorse, the emblem of the collection.

It is powered by the Omega 565 caliber, an in-house automatic movement with 24 jewels, equipped with a stop-seconds function, quickset date, and an approximate 50-hour power reserve. Renowned for its reliability and precision, it is one of the most appreciated calibers from Omega's 1960s production. Our example has been serviced by our watchmakers and is running perfectly.

Mounted on its Omega rice-grain bracelet (ref. 513) in steel, with Buckle original Omega folding clasp, this piece will appeal to the vintage watch enthusiast seeking an authentic Omega, in Unisex format and with a strong character.

Three points to note:

  • Omega 565 in-house automatic caliber, serviced, with quickset date and stop-seconds function.
  • Case monocoque steel “Unishell” case and original Omega rice-grain bracelet.
  • Original grey dial showing oxidation marks linked to age (see condition and photos) — the charm of an authentic, unaltered piece.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Omega Seamaster Cosmic?
The Seamaster Cosmic is a line produced by Omega from 1966, within the Seamaster collection (Omega's oldest lineage, born in 1948). Elegant and accessible, it proved that the Seamaster could be an everyday dress watch and no longer only a dive watch. Its one-piece case and hippocampus logo on the caseback remain hallmarks of the collection.

What is the Omega 565 caliber?
The 565 is an Omega in-house automatic movement from the 1960s, with 24 jewels, beating at 19,800 vibrations per hour, equipped with hacking seconds, quick-set date and approximately 50 hours of power reserve. Recognized for its precision and robustness, it is one of the most appreciated calibers among Omega collectors.

What is a one-piece case?
On this Cosmic, the case is made from a single piece (known as an « Unishell » or monocoque): it has no separate screw-down caseback, which improves resistance to water and dust. The movement is housed and removed from the front, after the Crystal is removed — a technical feature typical of certain Omega models of the era.

Can one obtain an Omega archive extract for this watch?
Yes. Omega offers an official archive extract service which, using the serial number, confirms the production date and original characteristics of the watch. Do not hesitate to contact us so we can assist you with the process.

Is this watch suitable for a man or a woman?
With its 33 mm case (excluding the crown), it is a Unisex-sized piece, elegant on the wrist of both a man and a woman. Its classic proportions and sunburst grey dial make it an ideal dress watch for formal wear.
