Citizen Exceed PVD bronze: the high-end Japanese dress watch with a black ribbed dial
This Citizen watch belongs to the Exceed line, the house’s high-end dress collection, and is equally suited to a man or a woman. Designed to rival fine luxury watches, it features a tonneau case with curved flanks and beveled angles, finished in bronze-tone PVD whose polished facets reflect the light in warm edges. The case measures 29mm (31mm with the crown) for a Lug-to-lug of 35mm and a thickness of just 5.9mm, Crystal included. A slim, dense, and graphic piece.
The black dial is the watch’s greatest asset. Its surface, delicately ribbed with vertical lines, shifts from deep black to luminous gray depending on the angle, a vivid effect that catches the eye. Applied gold baton indices rhythmically frame the dial, and the faceted gold hands stand out sharply against the dark background. The EXCEED signature occupies the upper part of the dial, while the Citizen Quartz mention sits below: two measured inscriptions on a deliberately pared-back design.
At the heart beats the Citizen calibre 7923, an analog quartz movement made in Japan, with three hands. Its slim construction is precisely what makes the watch’s 5.9mm profile possible. The movement of this example has been checked by our watchmaker and the battery replaced before shipment. Citizen has not published an accessible precision specification for this calibre: we therefore make no numerical claim.
On the wrist, the piece behaves like a de ville jewel. The warm bronze tone of the case and the black dial create a dressy, timeless contrast, here complemented by a black genuine crocodile leather strap that extends the ensemble’s understated character. This strap is not original; it is fitted with a steel pin buckle. The Lug width of 19mm leaves full freedom to change it.

Yes. The 7923 is a three-hand analog quartz movement, made in Japan, whose slim construction made this Exceed's ultra-thin case possible. Its reliability rests on simplicity: in practice, maintenance is limited to battery replacement. The movement in this example has been checked by our watchmaker and comes with a 1-year warranty.
What is a bronze-tone PVD case?
PVD is a physical vapour deposition: a thin layer of material deposited on steel to give it its colour, here a warm bronze tone. Harder and more scratch-resistant than traditional plating, it still should be protected from impacts on sharp edges. A soft cloth is enough for routine care.
Is this Citizen Exceed water-resistant?
No. Water resistance is never guaranteed on a vintage watch: the original seals have aged and the case back pressure is no longer what it was on day one. Avoid showers, swimming pools, and the sea. A brief contact with rainwater, however, poses no problem.
Which wrist size suits a 29mm tonneau case?
On a shaped watch, what matters is the overall presence: with 29mm of width, a 35mm Lug-to-lug, and a dial that fills the entire case, this Exceed wears well on wrists measuring from 15 to 18.5cm in circumference. Its restrained 5.9mm thickness allows it to slip under a cuff, in the purest dress-watch register.

After-sales service is free. Shipping fees outside the United Arab Emirates remain the responsibility of the customer.

Each watch is examined by our partner watchmakers before being offered for sale: verification of authenticity, checking the conformity of the components, identification of any modification or replacement of original parts.
If any element has been replaced during the life of the watch (dial, hands, crown, Crystal, strap), we systematically indicate it in the product sheet. You buy knowing the exact history of your piece.
