Atelier Note
A golden television screen, lit with a smoky taupe that darkens toward the edges — the 1970s on the wrist, with its papers in the drawer.
An automatic Tissot Seven, in a television case
This Tissot watch is a Seven, the automatic date line that the Le Locle house — founded in 1853 — produced in the 1970s. It bears its most period and most sought-after design: the TV case, that square with softened corners echoing the silhouette of the television screens of the time, executed here in a single block of gold-plated metal, with lugs blended into the caseband.
The taupe dial is the piece’s second signature: a smoky grey, horizontally brushed, that darkens in a gradient toward the edges — the vignette effect of seventies dials, which gives the center its light. The applied baton hour markers, faceted and polished, catch white flashes, beneath three baton hands and a date window at three o’clock, framed in white.
The original gold-plated bracelet, with integrated flat links, extends the case in the same metal — a complete period ensemble, which is becoming rare on these references. It fits wrists from 16.5 to 17cm.
The automatic movement has been checked by our partner watchmakers and is guaranteed for one year. The watch comes with its original papers, unsigned — uncommon on a Tissot of this generation.

Smoky taupe gradient dial — the horizontal brushing that darkens toward the edges, the period vignette effect.
03
Original set with papers — period integrated bracelet and unsigned Tissot documents.
Why choose a vintage Tissot?
This vintage Tissot watch holds a precise place among men’s and women’s vintage watches: its 39mm case carries the presence of the seventies on the wrist, and Tissot — a Le Locle manufacture since 1853 — offers the most accessible vintage Swiss automatic watch on the market, with movements whose parts remain available. The TV case has returned to the forefront of current taste, and complete examples with original bracelets are becoming rarer.
Like all our vintage mechanical watches , this one has been opened and inspected by our partner watchmakers: movement check, examination of the dial, hands and case. Each pre-owned Swiss watch that we offer comes with an Atelier Victor invoice serving as a certificate, a one-year guarantee and guaranteed lifetime authenticity.

Frequently asked questions
What is a TV case?
It is the quintessential shape of the 1970s: a square with generously rounded corners, echoing the silhouette of television screens from the period. The lugs are no longer attached separately but merged into the middle case in a single block, and the integrated bracelet extends the design. Out of fashion for thirty years, the TV shape has returned to the forefront among collectors — it dates a watch at first glance, and that has become its strength.
What is the Tissot Seven line?
This is an automatic date line that Tissot produced in the 1970s, at the height of its serial mechanical production. Tissot, a manufacture founded in Le Locle in 1853, fitted these watches with robust automatic calibres whose maintenance remains simple today — one of the reasons why vintage Tissot watches are a reliable entry into period Swiss automatic watchmaking.
How does an automatic watch work?
An oscillating weight, driven by wrist movements, continuously winds the spring: when worn daily, the watch never needs to be wound by hand. After stopping, a few turns of the crown and setting the time are enough to start it again. Avoid setting the date between 9pm and 3am, when the date-change mechanism is engaged.
What do the original papers include?
The documents issued by Tissot at the time of sale, kept with the watch ever since — unsigned by the period retailer, which is common. They accompany the piece in addition to the invoice Atelier Victor, which serves as a certificate of authenticity and activates the one-year guarantee. Finding a Tissot of this generation with its papers is uncommon.
Is this piece suitable for a slim or larger wrist?
At 39mm wide, 38mm Lug-to-lug and 11.5mm thick, it wears its seventies presence on wrists of approximately 15.5 to 17cm, the bracelet fastening at 16.5 to 17cm — a guideline, never a rule: everyone wears what they like. The TV shape takes up the wrist across its width; that is its character. Let us know your wrist size before purchase.
