Maintenance of your watch

A vintage watch requires some precautions to last over time.

Water Resistance

Even if your watch was originally water-resistant, avoid any contact with water: rain, hand washing, excessive sweating.

Shocks and Magnets

Mechanical movements are sensitive to shocks and magnetic fields. Avoid placing your watch near a phone, computer, speakers, or magnetic clasps. In case of magnetization, the watch may advance or delay significantly.

Temperature

Avoid extreme variations: do not leave your watch in direct sunlight, in a car during summer, or exposed to intense cold. Temperature differences can affect the lubrication of the movement and its accuracy.

Winding

For manual winding watches, wind them regularly. Stop as soon as you feel resistance. For automatic watches, regular wearing is enough. If you do not wear it for several days, wind it manually (20-30 turns) before putting it back on your wrist.

Periodic Servicing

Have your watch serviced every 3 to 5 years by a qualified watchmaker. The servicing includes disassembly, cleaning, lubrication, and adjustment of the movement. This preserves the longevity and accuracy of the piece.

Storage

Store your watch in a dry place, away from direct light. A case or storage box protects from dust and scratches. Avoid plastic pouches that retain moisture.

In Case of Problems

If you notice a malfunction (significant delay, stop, abnormal noise), contact us before any intervention. Opening the watch by a third party voids the warranty.
