Seiko Vintage Seiko Steel: the feminine dress watch with a Baignoire case and white dial
This Seiko watch belongs to the Noie line, the Japanese house's feminine dress collection, recognizable by the small gilded hexagonal "N" logo placed at 6 o'clock. Its Baignoire shape, a vertical oval with full curves, here rendered in polished steel, gives it a soft, luminous silhouette, very different from the expected roundness of ladies' watches. The case measures 21mm (23mm with the crown) for a Lug-to-lug of 33mm and a thickness of 6.9mm, Crystal included. A delicate piece, designed for a slender wrist.
The white lacquered dial is marked by its deliberate simplicity. Twelve stylized, slender, dark Arabic numerals run all around it; the Seiko signature occupies the top, while the Noie line's "N" logo sits at the bottom. Inside beats the calibre Seiko 1F21, a ladies' analog quartz movement powered by a small 337 battery (SR416SW). It is a simple and reliable movement, designed to disappear in service of the design. The movement of this example has been checked by our watchmaker and the battery replaced before shipment. Seiko has not published a precision specification for this calibre: we therefore make no numerical claim.
On the wrist, the piece favors the discreet jewel rather than the instrument. The polished Baignoire and its steel case catch the light through their curves alone, with no bezel or added ornament. The watch is fitted with an original dark green crocodile-style leather strap, with a steel pin buckle and Buckle. This strap, being old, should be handled with care. The slender Lug width, typical of ladies' watches, makes replacement strap choices lean toward narrower widths.
Three points to note
- The 1F21 calibre uses a small 337 battery (SR416SW): it is available from any watchmaker, but less common than standard formats. Please mention it when replacing the battery.
- The Crystal shows visible signs of wear and the steel case bears fine marks: traces of age that we prefer to disclose rather than embellish. The dial, however, remains clean.
- The leather strap is the original one; being old, it may be fragile and can be replaced if needed.
