Seiko Vintage Quartz: a two-tone dress watch with Roman numerals

This Vintage Seiko Quartz watch is an elegant dress piece with a two-tone tonneau case, combining stainless steel and gold-plating, enhanced by a Clous de Paris bezel and a cream-white dial with Roman numerals. Slim and refined, it embodies the understated elegance of Japanese dress watches. In a versatile size, it wears just as well on a man's wrist as on a woman's. A sober, meticulous piece, ideal for everyday wear as well as evening occasions.

The cream-white dial highlights classic black Roman numerals for a clear, dressy readout. The “Seiko Quartz” signature appears at 3 o'clock, while slender black tapered hands glide over the whole. It is above all the gold-plated bezel that defines the character of the piece: fully guilloché with a fine grid motif, it catches the light and frames the dial in a precious setting, contrasting with the steel case. A sober and luminous ensemble, in the grand tradition of Japanese dress watches.

This Seiko is powered by a quartz movement from the brand, reliable and precise, battery-powered. Seiko, a pioneer of quartz with the 1969 Astron, is renowned for the quality and longevity of its calibres. A regulated movement, guaranteeing precise everyday operation without demanding mechanical maintenance.

With its 30mm case and very slim profile (6.7mm) and its two-tone tonneau shape, this vintage watch offers an elegant, versatile size, on a man's wrist as well as a woman's — a true unisex watch. The original dial and hands are in good condition; the acrylic Crystal is rated 7/10 (minor signs of wear, the acrylic can be polished by a watchmaker). It comes on a handmade crocodile leather strap, non-original, with a steel Buckle.

    Frequently asked questions

What is a "Tank" watch or a tonneau-shaped watch?
The tonneau shape refers to an elongated case with curved sides, close to the rectangular "Tank" silhouette popularized by Cartier at the beginning of the 20th century. The term "Tank" is now commonly used for these elongated dress watches. This piece is not a Cartier: it is a Seiko, a Japanese manufacture, which takes up that dress-watch spirit.

What movement does this Seiko Quartz have?
It is fitted with a reliable, precise Seiko quartz movement, battery-powered. Seiko launched the world's first quartz wristwatch, the Astron, in 1969, and remains a benchmark in this field. This type of movement ensures great everyday accuracy without mechanical servicing.

    Is the case solid gold?
No. It is a two-tone case combining steel and gold plating: the gilded elements are gold-plated, on a steel base. It is a dressed finish typical of elegant watches of that era, offering the brilliance of gold with the robustness of steel.

    Is this Seiko watch vintage?
Yes, fully so. From the 1980s, it is well beyond the thirty-year threshold generally retained for the term "vintage". It is an authentic vintage Seiko watch, a witness to Japanese expertise in quartz dress watches.

Is this watch suitable for a man or a woman?
It is a Unisex watch. Its tonneau case of 30mm suitable for both a men's and women's wrist. Its white dial with Roman numerals and dress-watch format make it an elegant watch for all occasions.
