Atelier Note

A gold-plated bezel with a fine texture, marked by steel bars, around a satin-finished silvered dial. A 1985 Seiko Chronos, on its original two-tone bracelet. Checked, delivered with its Atelier Victor invoice serving as a certificate.

A 1985 Seiko Tank Chronos, gold-plated bezel and integrated bracelet

The steel Tank case, rectangular with cut corners, measures 27mm wide, 6.6mm thick and 33mm lug-to-lug. Its gold-plated bezel, worked with a fine texture, bears fine engravings and four steel bars at 12, 3, 6 and 9 o'clock. The gold-plated fluted crown echoes this bezel. The caseback is steel.

The silvered dial has a vertical satin finish and bears only a few gold-tone dots as markers. The Seiko Quartz signature occupies the top of the dial, the Chronos signature in cursive letters the bottom. The gold-tone lance hands and fine seconds hand stand out against this light background. Dial and hands are original.

The watch is powered by the Seiko 9531 calibre, a slim quartz movement developed in Suwa, with a stated accuracy of ±20 seconds per year. The serial number engraved on the caseback dates production to March 1985.

The watch has retained its original bracelet, integrated into the case, in steel punctuated by gold-plated links; it adjusts to a wrist of around 20cm. At 27mm wide and 6.6mm thick, it can be worn on a woman's wrist as well as a man's wrist, and slips under a cuff.

What does the Chronos signature refer to?
Chronos is a name that Seiko places on some of its dress watches. It appears here in cursive letters at the bottom of the dial, below the Seiko Quartz signature.

What is the Seiko 9531 caliber?
