The graphic elegance of a bi-color dress watch
This Seiko cultivates a dressy, graphic elegance, defined by a rectangular case Tank with subtly bevelled angles. The steel of the case frames a gold-tone bezel that highlights the dial, creating a refined bi-color interplay. The deep black dial, remarkably understated, catches the light through a cut Crystal. A crisp, timeless piece, equally at ease beneath a cuff as it is in the evening.
The black dial embraces minimalism. Fine faceted gold-tone baton indexes capture the light and stand out sharply against the dark background, while the gold-tone hands ensure immediate legibility. The inscription “Seiko Quartz” is discreetly placed beneath 12 o'clock. The faceted mineral Crystal, whose bevelled edges encircle the dial, adds a touch of refinement characteristic of dress watches from the 1980s.
At work beneath the Crystal is a Japanese quartz movement Seiko, the caliber 7431, with central seconds hand. Produced in the 1980s, it powered many of the brand's dress watches, including a line of rectangular models now highly sought after. Reliable and precise, it drives the hours, minutes, and seconds with the simplicity of a battery-powered movement.
With its 25mm-wide case and 18mm Lug width, this Seiko offers a measured format, comfortable on a wide variety of wrists, both feminine and masculine. The original black dial is very well preserved, with intact indexes and hands. The steel and gold-tone bezel show a few fine signs of wear, more visible on the edges, consistent with the age of the piece. The black crocodile-style leather strap, fitted recently, completes the whole; its Buckle buckle is not original.
