Seiko quartz vintage: a stainless steel watch with a midnight blue dial

This vintage Seiko watch is immediately appealing thanks to its superb midnight blue dial, housed in an elegant round stainless steel case, slim and understated. Produced by Seiko in 1976, it is among the brand's first compact quartz watches. Understated and dressy, it can be worn just as easily on a man's wrist as on a woman's. A vintage watch with timeless charm, ideal for everyday wear as well as evening occasions.

The midnight blue dial is the key asset of this Seiko: a deep, subtly graduated sunburst tone that catches the light with elegance. Applied silver baton hour markers and a fine railroad minute track ensure legibility, while the « Seiko Quartz » signature and the brand emblem at 6 o'clock complete the ensemble. Three slender silver hands — hours, minutes and seconds — glide across this remarkably restrained dial.

This Seiko watch is powered by the caliber 4120, a compact quartz movement launched by the Suwa factory in the mid-1970s. It is one of the brand's first generations of mass-produced quartz, a direct heir to the Astron of 1969 — the world's very first quartz watch. Remarkably slim for its era, this caliber offers the precision and simplicity of quartz: a simple battery powers it for more than a year, with no mechanical servicing required.

With its 33.5mm case and slim profile, this vintage watch can be worn just as easily on a man's wrist as on a woman's — a true Unisex watch. The original dial is in very fine condition and the Crystal crystal is in good condition (rated 8/10, with some signs of wear). It is fitted on a genuine black crocodile leather strap, not original, with a stainless steel Buckle buckle.

Frequently asked questions

Is this Seiko watch vintage?
Yes, fully so. Equipped with the Seiko 4120 calibre and dated 1976, it is well beyond the thirty-year threshold generally used for the term “vintage.” It is an authentic vintage Seiko watch, a witness to the early days of quartz at Seiko.

What is special about the 4120 calibre?
The 4120 is one of the first compact quartz movements produced on a large scale by Seiko, from 1975 onward, at the Suwa factory. It descends directly from the 1969 Astron, the world’s first quartz watch. Remarkably slim for its era, it remains renowned for its reliability.

Is the dial really blue?
Yes. The dial features a deep midnight blue, with a subtle sunburst finish, shifting from light blue to dark blue depending on the light. It is one of the major aesthetic strengths of this watch, in perfect harmony with its steel case.

Is this Seiko watch suitable for a man or a woman?
It is a women’s watch. Its 33.5 mm round case suits both a masculine and a feminine wrist. Its blue dial and dress-watch proportions make it a versatile vintage watch, for both men and women, from everyday wear to more formal occasions.

What is the international shipping timeframe?
Dispatch within 48 hours, international delivery within 3 to 5 days, insurance included.
