Seiko vintage mechanical: a dress watch with Roman numerals

This vintage Seiko watch is a true hand-wound mechanical watch, housed in an elegant square steel case. Its textured white dial, punctuated by black Roman numerals, gives it a dressy and timeless allure. Produced by Seiko in the 1970s, it can be worn just as well on a man’s wrist as on a woman’s. A discreet and refined collector's piece, ideal for any occasion.

The finely textured white dial evokes, through its delicate grain, the finest dress dials — an effect that enthusiasts readily compare to the snow dials of Grand Seiko. Elegant black Roman numerals ensure legibility, while the small lightning bolt beneath 6 o'clock identifies the Daini Seikosha manufacture. Two slender black baton hands indicate the hours and minutes, in a clean and classic aesthetic.

At the heart of this Seiko beats the caliber 2220, a 24-jewel hand-wound mechanical movement, beating at the high frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. It was designed in the early 1970s by Daini Seikosha, one of the two historic manufactures of Seiko — the very same one that gave rise to the celebrated King Seiko. Unlike a quartz watch, it is wound each day by the crown and requires no battery; periodic servicing by a watchmaker preserves its proper functioning.

With its 28mm case and slender profile, this vintage watch can be worn just as well on a man’s wrist as on a woman’s — a true Unisex watch. The original dial and mineral Crystal are in very fine condition. It is fitted with a genuine black crocodile leather strap, not original, with a steel Buckle buckle.

Frequently asked questions

Is this Seiko watch mechanical or quartz?
It is fully mechanical, hand-wound: it must be wound every day via the crown, with no battery. Its calibre 2220 has 24 jewels and beats at the high frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour — a refined and carefully finished movement, typical of fine dress watches from the 1970s.

What is Daini Seikosha?
Daini Seikosha was one of the two historic manufactories of Seiko, alongside Suwa Seikosha. Put in competition to raise quality, these two factories each developed their own calibres: Daini is notably the origin of the famous King Seiko. On the dial, the small lightning-shaped logo beneath 6 o’clock identifies a Daini production — a mark of provenance appreciated by collectors.

Is this Seiko watch vintage?
Yes, entirely. It dates from the 1970s and therefore far exceeds the thirty-year threshold generally retained for the term “vintage”. Its mechanical movement and textured dial make it a sought-after collector’s piece, with timeless charm.

Is this Seiko watch suitable for a man or a woman?
It is a Unisex watch. Its square 28 mm case is equally suited to a masculine or feminine wrist. Its white dial with Roman numerals makes it a versatile vintage dress watch, for men and women alike, from everyday wear to more formal occasions.

What is the international delivery time?
Dispatch within 48 hours, international delivery within 3 to 5 days, insurance included.
