Noie: a gold-plated oval with calligraphed numerals
This Seiko watch belongs to the Noie line, reference 1F21-5B70, dated December 1996. It is a small-format Japanese dress watch, whose gold-plated oval case with steel caseback measures 21mm wide and 6.5mm thick.
The bezel is a domed and polished ring, with no edge, which surrounds the Crystal and reflects the light in a single continuous line. The attachments are four gold-tone claws that grip the leather from above, a design that replaces classic lugs and further refines the silhouette.
The white dial bears twelve black Arabic numerals drawn in the manner of Breguet numerals, with their thick and thin strokes and open loops. Below twelve o'clock, the SEIKO signature; above six o'clock, the gold-tone N of the Noie line. At the bottom of the dial, the factory marking JAPAN 1F21-1E20 T.
Three slender black hands are enough for the display. The Crystal is sapphire, a rare material on a watch of this size, and the quartz movement has been checked by our watchmakers and carries a 1-year guarantee.

Condition and guarantee
- Overall condition: Good state of preservation. The white dial is clean, the calligraphed numerals and signature are perfectly printed, the gold-tone N intact, the hands without alteration. Crystal sapphire crystal in good condition (9/10). The gold-plated bezel bears an impact mark on its upper left side, and the case edge has fine surface scratches from wear, visible in our photographs.

Frequently asked questions
What is the Noie line from Seiko?
It is a series of feminine dress watches produced by Seiko for the Japanese market, identifiable by the stylised N printed on the dial. The references begin with the calibre, here 1F21, followed by the case code. The name does not appear in full on the dial: it is the logo that identifies it.
Is a 12mm Lug width easy to replace?
Yes, but the choice is more limited than in standard sizes. The 12mm size exists from manufacturers specialising in women's straps, mainly in leather. A wider strap would not fit between the claws: this is the exact size that must be ordered.
What does a sapphire Crystal add to a watch of this size?
A great deal, because a small watch gets knocked just as much as a large one. Sapphire is the hardest of watch crystals: it resists the scratches of everyday life where a mineral crystal accumulates them, which explains the clarity of the dial after thirty years. It remains brittle under a sharp impact and cannot be polished: it must be replaced.
Does a gold-plated case require precautions?
Yes, more than steel. Plating is a layer of gold deposited on a base metal: it wears at points of friction, mainly the edges of the bezel and the caseback. It is preserved by avoiding water, household products and cosmetics, and is cleaned with a soft, dry cloth, never with an abrasive or a polishing paste, which remove the layer.
Is this piece suitable for a slim or large wrist?
At 21mm wide, 33.5mm Lug-to-lug and 6.5mm thick, it sits on wrists of about 13 to 16cm — a guide, never a rule: everyone wears what they like. It is more a jewellery format than a tool watch, to be worn alone or against a fine bracelet.
