Seiko mechanical vintage: a dress watch with a silver dial

This vintage Seiko watch is a true hand-wound mechanical watch, with the understated elegance of a round dress watch. Its silver dial, with a striking fibrous texture, catches the light like a frosted surface. Produced by Seiko during the 1970s, it can be worn equally well on a man’s or a woman’s wrist. A sober and refined collector’s piece, signed by the Daini Seikosha manufacture.

The silver dial is the major asset of this Seiko: a textured, almost fibrous finish that evokes frost and that enthusiasts readily compare to the snow dials of Grand Seiko. Black applied baton indexes provide contrast and legibility, while the small lightning bolt beneath 6 o’clock signals the Daini Seikosha manufacture. Two slender black hands indicate the hours and minutes, in a pared-back and timeless aesthetic.

At the heart of this Seiko beats the calibre 2220, a 24-jewel hand-wound mechanical movement beating at the high frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. Designed in the early 1970s by Daini Seikosha — the manufacture behind the famous King Seiko — this fine calibre equipped elegant dress watches. Unlike a quartz watch, it is wound every day by the crown and requires no battery; periodic servicing by a watchmaker preserves its proper functioning.

With its 34mm case and slim profile, this vintage watch can be worn equally well on a man’s or a woman’s wrist — a true unisex watch. The original dial and mineral Crystal are in very fine condition. It is delivered on its original black leather strap, aged and fragile, to be handled with care (replacement may be considered). The original Buckle buckle is original.

Frequently asked questions

Is this Seiko watch mechanical or quartz?
It is fully mechanical, hand-wound: it must be wound every day via the crown, with no battery. Its Caliber 2220, designed by Daini Seikosha, has 24 jewels and beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour — a refined and carefully executed movement, typical of the finest dress watches of the 1970s.

What is Daini Seikosha?
Daini Seikosha was one of Seiko’s two historic manufactures, alongside Suwa Seikosha. Competing to raise quality, each developed its own calibers: Daini is notably the origin of the famous King Seiko. On the dial, the small lightning-bolt logo under 6 o’clock identifies a Daini production — a provenance hallmark appreciated by collectors.

Is this Seiko watch vintage?
Yes, absolutely. It dates from the 1970s and therefore far exceeds the thirty-year threshold generally used for the term “vintage”. Its mechanical movement and textured silver dial make it a sought-after collector’s piece.

Is this Seiko watch suitable for a man or a woman?
It is a Unisex watch. Its 34mm round case is equally suited to a masculine or feminine wrist. Its silver dial and dressy format make it a versatile vintage watch, for both men and women, from everyday wear to more formal occasions.

What is the international delivery timeframe?
Dispatch within 48 hours, international delivery within 3 to 5 days, insurance included.
