Seiko Hanae Mori Gold-Plated: the watch with a reversible case and two dials
This Seiko watch was produced in collaboration with Hanae Mori, one of Japan's greatest couturières, the first Asian admitted to the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture Parisienne, whose butterfly emblem dressed several decades of fashion. Seiko designed the manufacture and movement, Hanae Mori the design: the best of both worlds, Japanese horological reliability under a designer's signature. This piece, both feminine and masculine, has a rare feature: its round gold-plated case is reversible, and pivots within its middle case to reveal a second dial. It measures 30mm (34mm with the crown) for a Lug-to-lug of 42mm and a thickness of 8.7mm.
The first face is a white lacquered dial with black Roman numerals, framed by a bezel with four visible gold-toned screws, in a classic and graphic spirit. The HM monogram of Hanae Mori signs the lower part. The second face takes the opposite approach: a minimalist black sunburst dial, without hour markers, surrounded by a bezel on which only the Roman numerals XII, III, VI and IX are engraved in the gold. One watch, two personalities, chosen according to mood or outfit.
Inside beats a Seiko quartz movement, with two hands. There is neither date nor seconds hand: nothing to disturb the design of the two dials. The watch is easy to maintain, through a battery change by any watchmaker. The movement of this example was checked by our watchmaker and the battery replaced before shipment.
Produced in 1998, this piece falls under neo-vintage: recent enough to offer the reliability of a modern quartz, old enough to no longer be listed anywhere and to cultivate a true character. It is today fitted with a black lizard-style leather strap, with a gold-tone Buckle buckle. This strap is not original. The Lug width of 17mm leaves the choice of replacement straps open.

- The watch is a Seiko, made in collaboration with couturière Hanae Mori (HM signature on the dial): Japanese movement reliability under a designer's design.
- The Crystal of the black face shows visible signs of use, and the gold plating has fine marks, consistent with the age of the piece. We prefer to point this out rather than embellish it.

What is a Seiko Hanae Mori?

How does the reversible case work?
The case pivots within its body to display, as desired, one of its two faces: a white dial with Roman numerals, or a minimalist sunburst black dial. Does the watch have one or two movements?
Only one. Unlike certain double-display pieces, the two faces do not show the time at the same time: it is the dial facing upward that is active. The case houses a single Seiko quartz movement, which explains its slimness and ease of maintenance.
Is this watch water-resistant?
No. Water resistance is never guaranteed on a vintage watch, especially on a reversible case whose seals are stressed by the mechanism. Avoid the shower, the pool and the sea. A simple contact with rainwater, however, does not pose any difficulty.
What wrist size does this watch suit?
With a 30mm case and a 42mm Lug-to-lug, it wears in balanced fashion on wrists of around 15 to 18.5cm. Its double face allows it to adapt to every situation: the white Roman dial for daytime, the minimalist black dial for evening. It is a Unisex piece, both dressy and distinctive.

Each watch is inspected by our watchmakers before shipping. In case of a mechanism malfunction during the first year, we cover the repair.

Each watch is examined by our partner watchmakers before being offered for sale: verification of authenticity, checking the conformity of the components, identification of any modification or replacement of original parts.
If any element has been replaced during the life of the watch (dial, hands, crown, Crystal, strap), we systematically indicate it in the product sheet. You buy knowing the exact history of your piece.
