Seiko vintage gold-plated : a dress watch with a guilloché dial

This vintage Seiko watch charms with its gold-plated cushion case and its finely guilloché champagne dial. Elegant and dressy, with a slender profile, it can be worn equally well on a man’s or a woman’s wrist. Signed Seiko, a global pioneer in quartz watchmaking, this vintage watch from the 1980s combines precision and refinement. A sober, luminous piece, ideal for daytime wear as well as evening occasions.

The champagne dial is the defining feature of this Seiko: a guilloché Clous de Paris motif that delicately catches the light, animated by applied gilt baton hour markers. The double signature “Seiko Quartz” and the Seiko emblem at 6 o’clock complete a dial of great elegance, traversed by two slender gilt hands indicating the hours and minutes. A palette of gold tones typical of vintage dress watches by Seiko.

At the heart of this Seiko watch beats the calibre 2620, a high-end analog quartz movement produced by the manufacture in the 1980s, also found in prestigious models such as Credor. Precise and finely made, it offers a true “set and forget” operation. A quartz watch delivers greater accuracy than most mechanical watches: a simple battery is enough to power it for years, with no mechanical servicing required.

With its 31mm case and a profile of only 6.2mm, this vintage watch can be worn equally well on a man’s or a woman’s wrist — a true Unisex watch. The original dial and the Crystal mineral crystal are in very good condition. The gold-plated case shows a few signs of wear on the friction points, consistent with age and disclosed with full transparency. The watch is fitted with a handmade burgundy lizard leather strap, not original, with a steel Buckle buckle.

Three points to note

  • High-end Seiko quartz movement 2620 (1980s), two hands (hours and minutes).
  • Unisex watch (men’s and women’s); dial and Crystal in very good condition, case gold plating slightly worn (noted).

Frequently asked questions

Is this Seiko watch vintage?
Yes. It is fitted with the Seiko 2620 caliber, launched in 1979 and produced during the 1980s; this example dates from that period. It is a Seiko vintage watch: a watch is generally considered vintage after about thirty years. A collector's piece with timeless charm.

What is a guilloché dial?
Guilloché is a decorative pattern engraved or stamped into the dial — here a fine grid known as « clous de Paris ». It catches the light and brings depth and relief to the champagne dial, a refined finish found on quality dress watches.

Is the case solid gold?
No, the case is gold-plated metal over a steel back. The gold plating may show, as here, slight traces of wear on the friction points — a normal sign of age, disclosed with complete transparency.

Is this Seiko watch suitable for a man or a woman?
It is a Unisex watch. Its 31 mm cushion case suits both a masculine and feminine wrist. Its guilloché champagne dial makes it a versatile vintage dress watch, for both men and women, from everyday wear to more formal occasions.

What is the international delivery time?
Dispatch within 48 hours, international delivery within 3 to 5 days, insurance included.
