Seiko Chronos vintage: a dress watch in steel and gold with a white Roman dial
This vintage Seiko Chronos watch is an elegant dress piece with a two-tone case, brushed steel and a gold-plated bezel, and a lacquered white dial. From the Chronos line — a dress quartz collection that Seiko aimed at the Japanese market from 1982 onward — it charms with its slender profile and classicism. With its versatile size, it can be worn equally well on a man’s or a woman’s wrist. A refined, understated Japanese watch, ideal for everyday wear as well as evening occasions.
The lacquered white dial highlights fine black Roman numerals, framed by a double railroad track minute scale, with the signatures “Seiko Quartz” and “Chronos.” Slim black baton hands and a gold-tone seconds hand sweep across the whole for clear, elegant legibility. A classic, luminous dial in the grand tradition of dress watches, enhanced by the brilliance of the gold-plated bezel with exposed screws.
This Seiko is powered by the 7731 quartz caliber, a reliable and precise analogue movement from the 1980s. Battery-powered, it carries on Seiko’s legacy as a quartz pioneer with the 1969 Astron.
