A Seiko Chronos cushion-case with a clean white dial

This Seiko Chronos vintage, reference 7433-5080, was produced in Japan around 1985. The Chronos collection refers at Seiko to the range of high-end dress quartz watches from the 1980s — a positioning that met with considerable success on the Japanese market and is now back on the radar of discerning collectors of vintage Japanese watches.

The cushion-case stainless steel case, with rounded angles and crisp lines, is the expression of a typical Seiko 80s design — understated, geometric, deeply Japanese. The original matte off-white dial offers a luminous, minimalist reading, punctuated by very fine black applied baton indexes and bevelled silver-tone hands with a black center stripe. A composition of remarkable graphic purity, faithful to the philosophy of restraint that Seiko has always championed.

The detail that sets this piece apart on the vintage Japanese market: its day-date display with kanji at 3 o'clock. The day of the week appears alternately in English and in a Japanese ideogram (火 for Tuesday, 水 for Wednesday, etc.). This feature, characteristic of watches produced for the Japanese domestic market (JDM), has become a collector's point in its own right — it immediately signals a piece originally intended for Japan's domestic market, rarer in the West and particularly sought after by enthusiasts.

The original stainless steel bracelet with integrated design, featuring fine type "rice grain" links, completes the overall aesthetic and has never been replaced since production. With its diameter of 31mm and thickness of 7.6mm, this Seiko vintage watch offers a compact Unisex format — ideal for women's as well as men's wrists looking for a discreet yet distinctive Japanese piece. An authentic Japanese watch from the great Seiko quartz era, selected and serviced by Atelier Victor. Fast and secure international shipping.

Frequently asked questions

  • Is this Chronos Seiko authentic?
Yes, every Seiko vintage watch is authenticated by our team. Reference 7433-5080 and caliber Seiko 7433 are verified open caseback. Authenticity is guaranteed for life.
  • What does "JDM" mean and why is it interesting?
JDM stands for "Japanese Domestic Market" — meaning this watch was produced exclusively for sale in Japan. JDM models are distinguished by features specific to the Japanese market (here the day display in kanji), often superior craftsmanship, and limited distribution. Collectors seek these pieces for their rarity in the West and their cultural authenticity.
  • Is the kanji display difficult to read?
No, because this watch displays the day of the week in two ways: in English and in Japanese kanji alternately. You can therefore read the day without difficulty while enjoying the authentic Japanese touch of kanji.
  • Is this watch suitable for a man or a woman?
With its compact 31mm diameter and Unisex design, this Seiko Chronos is perfectly suited to both women's and men's wrists. It is typically the format of Japanese dress watches of the 1980s, designed for both genders.
  • Is the quartz movement reliable?
Caliber Seiko 7433 is one of the most reliable Japanese quartz movements of its generation. It has been inspected by our watchmaker and comes with a one-year warranty. The battery can be changed easily by any watchmaker.
  • What is the international delivery time?
Shipping within 48 hours, worldwide delivery in 3 to 5 days via DHL Express, insurance included.
