Atelier Note

A rectangular steel case with chamfered corners, a gold-tone border around a white dial, gold-tone baton markers. A Seiko Cadet from March 1990, on its original two-tone bracelet, delivered with its Atelier Victor invoice serving as a certificate.

A 1990 Seiko Cadet 8N40-5060, rectangular and two-tone

This Seiko bears the Cadet signature on its dial, above the brand logo. Dated to March 1990 by its serial number, it is powered by the 8N40 quartz calibre, a two-hand movement that Seiko produced from 1987 onward.

The white dial features gold-tone baton markers and two gold-tone baton hands, with no seconds hand. Below the centre, a small gold-tone emblem sits above the words Water Resistant 20 Bar; the Cadet Seiko signature is placed below 12 o'clock.

The rectangular steel case, with cut corners, measures 26mm in width, 34mm lug-to-lug and 6mm thick. A gold-tone border frames the dial beneath the mineral Crystal, and the gold-tone crown echoes it on the side.

The watch is fitted with its original bracelet, with steel links crossed by gold-tone lines, fastened by a steel Buckle. It is set for a 17cm wrist and remains adjustable.

Frequently asked questions

What does the 20 bar marking on the dial mean?
It indicates the water resistance stated by Seiko when the watch was released, in 1990. The gaskets of a vintage watch age: water resistance is no longer guaranteed today, and we recommend not exposing the piece to water.

How is this watch dated?
By its serial number, engraved on the caseback, 0305••. At Seiko, the first digit gives the year within the decade and the second the month. As the 8N40 calibre appeared in 1987, this number places the piece in March 1990.

Why does it not have a seconds hand?
The Seiko 8N40 calibre is a two-hand quartz movement, hours and minutes. This choice lightens the dial and leaves full space for the white and gold-tone markers.

Is this piece suitable for a slim or large wrist?
With a width of 26mm, 34mm Lug-to-lug and a thickness of 6mm, it suits wrists of around 14 to 18cm — a guide, never a rule: everyone wears what they like. The bracelet is set for a 17cm wrist size and remains adjustable.

How do delivery and payment work?
The piece is shipped with tracking and insurance by a trusted carrier, to a collection point or to your home depending on the destination. Delivery is free.
