A vertical oval silhouette with dressed charm

This Seiko stands out for its vertical oval case, taller than it is wide, a dress shape found on the most elegant pieces in watchmaking. The warm gold-plating encases a lacquered white dial of great sobriety, where the Breguet numerals unfold their calligraphic curves. The whole piece exudes restraint: no excess, just a clean line carried by an timeless silhouette.

The white dial forms the heart of this piece. The twelve Breguet-style Arabic numerals, slender and refined, follow the oval opening of the dial rather than a strict circle, which accentuates the watch's verticality. The blued baton hands contrast delicately with the light background, while the small gilded hexagonal "N" logo discreetly marks the lower part of the dial, at 6 o'clock.

Beneath the Crystal sapphire beats a Japanese quartz movement, the Seiko 1F21 caliber, a reliable analog mechanism that drives the hours, minutes, and seconds. With its 21 mm width and 12 mm Lug width, this watch is designed for slender wrists, whether feminine or masculine. Its measured proportions and elongated form make it a truly Unisex piece, equally at home by day or in the evening.

This piece has crossed the years with elegance. The original dial remains impeccable, the blued hands are intact, and the Crystal sapphire is in very fine condition. That said, there is slight wear to the gold plating at 6 o'clock, disclosed transparently and consistent with the watch's age. The brown crocodile-style leather strap harmonizes naturally with the warmth of the gold-plating; its steel Buckle buckle is not original.

Three points to note

  • Vertical oval gold-plated Case, a dress shape ideal for slender wrists.
  • Original lacquered white dial with Breguet numerals, blued hands, and sapphire Crystal.
  • Slight wear to the gold plating at 6 o'clock, noted without reservation; 1-year guaranteed quartz movement.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is the case shape described as “Baignoire” for this type?
The term “Baignoire” informally refers to elongated oval cases, taller than they are wide. It refers to an emblematic Cartier model: the shape dates back to an oval case created in 1912, took on its modern silhouette in 1958 under the name “Ovale cintré,” then was officially named “Baignoire” in 1973. “Baignoire” is therefore a registered designation by Cartier. This Seiko is not one, but offers a Japanese interpretation of it, at a price incomparable with a Swiss piece.

Is this watch suitable for a man or a woman?
This is a truly Unisex piece. Its 21 mm wide case and elongated oval shape are particularly well suited to slender wrists, feminine as well as masculine. Its golden silhouette and clean dial lend it a mixed elegance, equally at ease by day or evening.

What are “Breguet” numerals?
Breguet numerals are slender, stylized Arabic numerals with a slightly slanted design, associated with the house founded by Abraham-Louis Breguet at the turn of the 19th century. Now a classic of dress watchmaking, they bring a calligraphic touch of refinement to the dial.

Is the case solid gold?
No: it is a gold-plated case over a steel base, a technique commonly used on Seiko dress watches. The plating brings the warmth and brilliance of gold at a fraction of the price. This piece shows slight wear to the plating at 6 o'clock, disclosed with full transparency and consistent with its age.

How should the quartz movement of this Seiko be maintained?
The 1F21 quartz caliber runs on a battery. When the watch stops, a simple battery replacement by a watchmaker is enough to bring it back to life. We recommend entrusting this operation to a professional in order to preserve the good condition of the case.

What is the international delivery time?
Dispatch within 48 hours, international delivery within 3 to 5 days, insurance included.
