Seiko Baignoire — The luminous curve of a sculpted case

This Seiko vintage Baignoire watch, produced around 2005, is first and foremost distinguished by the craftsmanship of its case: a gold-plated piece with full, rounded curves, whose polished surfaces catch the light from every angle. Where many dress watches rely on understated flatness, this Baignoire embraces an organic curve that gives it a warm presence on the wrist, never tipping into excess.

The Baignoire shape — the vertical oval silhouette popularized by Cartier in the 1950s — is here rendered in its softest form. The domed case is held by fine claw-carved lugs, set at the four corners like discreet studs that secure the bracelet. This almost jewelry-like detail sets the piece apart from Baignoires with more classic attachments and reveals the care devoted to its design.

The white lacquered dial provides the ideal luminous counterpoint to the warmth of the gold. Its black Breguet-style Arabic numerals unfold with classic, perfectly legible elegance, while the blue hands add a refined touch of color. The SEIKO signature and the gold hexagonal “N” logo at 6 o’clock complete a composition of flawless balance.

Protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal and powered by the reliable Seiko 1F21 quartz movement, this Baignoire is fitted with a handmade black grained leather strap that underscores its dress character. Ideal 21mm format for slender wrists, feminine as well as masculine. Selected piece, authenticated and serviced by Atelier Victor. Fast and secure international shipping.

Three points to note about this piece

  • Case gold-plated case with polished surfaces: a rounded, luminous volume, far removed from ordinary flat dress watches.
  • Fine claw-carved lugs at the four corners: an almost jewelry-like detail that defines the design.
  • White dial with Breguet Arabic numerals and blue hands: dressed elegance in its most classic form.

Frequently asked questions

  • What is a Baignoire watch?
Baignoire refers to a vertical oval case silhouette, taller than it is wide, popularized by Cartier in the 1950s with the famous Baignoire Cartier. The term has become a generic descriptor for this shape in dress watchmaking. This Seiko Baignoire offers a refined Japanese interpretation of it, at a much more accessible price than a Swiss Baignoire.
  • What distinguishes the case of this Baignoire?
Its curve. The case is here more domed and rounded than average, with polished surfaces that play with the light, and finely sculpted claw-like lugs at the four corners. This case work, almost jewelry-like, gives it a particular presence and warmth on the wrist.
  • What are "Breguet" numerals?
Breguet numerals are an elegant and stylized style of Arabic numerals, introduced by watchmaker Abraham-Louis Breguet at the beginning of the 19th century. Now a classic of dress watchmaking, they bring a touch of timeless refinement to the dial.
  • What is the Seiko 1F21 caliber?
The 1F21 caliber is a Japanese Seiko quartz movement produced in the 2000s, fitted to the brand's small dress watches. It is a reliable and precise caliber, easy to maintain, requiring only a battery change every 2 to 3 years.
  • Is this watch suitable for a man or a woman?
With its compact 21 mm width and its Baignoire shape, this Seiko is an ideal piece for slim wrists, feminine as well as masculine. Its oval silhouette and Breguet numerals give it a refined elegance Unisex.
  • What is the international delivery time?
Dispatch within 48 hours, international delivery within 3 to 5 days, insurance included.
