A steel rectangle and a black dial with a geometric motif
This watch Seiko is a rectangular quartz watch in steel, reference 7431-5360, produced in 1985. The case is a rectangle with cut corners, fully polished, whose upper and lower facets taper into the bracelet with no visible break. From the front, the watch shows only a steel plate and a black opening.
The black lacquered dial bears a printed motif in an aqua-green line: a first rectangle runs along the edge, a second closes at the centre, and four diagonals connect their corners. The effect is that of a perspective drawing rendered flat. Only four applied baton markers mark twelve, three, six and nine o'clock; the rest of the dial bears only the SEIKO QUARTZ signature.
The original steel bracelet is integrated into the case, with wide flat links separated by fine grooves, alternating brushed and polished surfaces. It closes at approximately 21cm and extends the line of the case to the Buckle.
The movement is a Seiko 7431 calibre, an analogue quartz movement with two jewels, beating at 32,768 Hz for a stated accuracy of around fifteen seconds per month, with an end-of-battery indicator. It has been checked by our watchmakers, the battery is new, and it carries a 1-year guarantee.

Condition and guarantee
- Overall condition: Good state of preservation. The black dial is clean, the printed motif and applied markers are intact. The hour and minute hands have lost part of their finish along their entire length, which is visible up close and in our photographs; the centre seconds hand is clean. The polished case and bracelet show surface scratches from wear on their surfaces, notably on the sides. Mineral Crystal in good condition (9/10).

What movement powers this Seiko?
A Seiko 7431 calibre, analogue quartz with two jewels, developed by the Daini Seikosha division. It vibrates at 32,768 Hz for a stated accuracy of around fifteen seconds per month, runs on an SR721SW battery and includes an end-of-life indicator: the seconds hand begins advancing in two-second jumps when it needs to be changed. It displays the hours, minutes and seconds, with no date.
What does the code printed at the bottom of the dial mean?
The marking JAPAN 7431-5490 R combines the movement calibre, here 7431, with the dial code, here 5490. It is an identification marking specific to Seiko. The case reference, meanwhile, is engraved on the caseback: it is the one that identifies the model, and it is the one we list in the specifications.
Can the bracelet be adjusted to my size?
It fastens at about 21cm as it is, which leaves room on most wrists. Links can be removed by a watchmaker. As the attachments are integrated into the case, a standard bracelet cannot be fitted in its place: the original bracelet is part of the watch's design.
Does a quartz watch of this age need servicing?
Very little, and that is its whole point. The battery is changed every two to three years by a watchmaker, who will also check the gaskets. There is no periodic service as on a mechanical watch. The main point of attention is not to leave a depleted battery in the case, as a leaking battery can reach the movement.
Is this piece suitable for a slim or large wrist?
At 25mm wide, 32mm lug-to-lug and 6.35mm thick, it suits wrists of around 15 to 19cm — a guide, never a rule: everyone wears what they like. A rectangular case extended by an integrated bracelet has more visual presence than its dimensions might suggest.
