Atelier Note

A gold-plated octagonal bezel on a steel case, a white dial with Roman numerals, and Sunday marked in red. A Seiko from 1988, on its original two-tone bracelet. Checked, delivered with its Atelier Victor invoice serving as a certificate.

A Seiko from 1988, steel and gold-plated, white dial with Roman numerals

The steel case measures 38.5mm in diameter and 8mm thick. It has a gold-plated octagonal bezel with a brushed finish, framing the dial; the gold-plated crown echoes this bezel. The bracelet is attached on a 24mm Lug width, in continuity with the case, with 41.5mm Lug-to-lug. The caseback is steel.

The white dial has twelve black Roman numerals and a minute track punctuated with gold-tone dots. The hour and minute hands are black, the centre seconds hand gold-tone; the Seiko Quartz signature occupies the top of the dial and the SQ logo the bottom. Dial and hands are original.

The window at 3 o'clock displays the day and date, with Sunday written in red. The watch is powered by the Seiko 5Y23 calibre, a day-date quartz from the late 1980s; the serial number engraved on the caseback dates production to November 1988.

The watch has kept its original bracelet, steel with gold-plated centre links, and its signed Buckle folding clasp signed Seiko and SQ; it adjusts up to a wrist of around 17.5cm. At 8mm thick, it slips under a cuff.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Seiko 5Y23 caliber?
A three-hand analog quartz movement by Seiko, with day and date, whose technical documentation dates from 1988. It runs on a 371 battery, which can be replaced by any watchmaker.

How is this watch dated?
By its serial number, engraved on the caseback. At Seiko, the first digit gives the year within the decade and the following sign gives the month, N for November. As the 5Y23 caliber dates from the late 1980s, 8N•••• corresponds to November 1988.

Why is Sunday in red?
On this watch's day disc, Sunday is written in red. The indication can be read at a glance in the window at 3 o'clock.

Is the bracelet original and what size is it?
Yes. The steel bracelet with gold-plated centre links and its signed Seiko folding Buckle are those of the watch; it adjusts up to a wrist of about 17.5cm.

How do delivery and payment work?
The piece is shipped with tracking and insurance by a trusted carrier, to a collection point or home address depending on the destination. Delivery is free.
