The Golden Elegance of a Swiss Automatic
This Omega belongs to the Seamaster line, one of the brand’s most emblematic collections, here in a dress and automatic version. Its tonneau gold-plated case, with brushed surfaces and faceted lugs, displays the typical silhouette of Omega watches from the 1970s. The champagne-gold dial catches the light warmly, for a watch that is both understated and resolutely elegant.
The satin-finished golden dial is punctuated by faceted applied baton hour markers, highlighted by a fine minute track and discreet arrow-shaped hour markers at each hour. The date window is positioned at 3 o’clock, while the inscriptions “Omega Automatic” and “Seamaster” structure the dial with restraint. The baton hands, gold-plated and lightly patinated by time, ensure a clear reading of the time.
The heart of this Seamaster is the Omega 1012 caliber, an automatic manufacture movement with date, from the celebrated 1010 family. Renowned for its reliability and precision, it features a quick-set date and drives the hours, minutes, seconds, and date. Fully serviced, it offers the peace of mind of a proven movement, ready for everyday wear.
With its 34.5mm case and Lug width of 20mm, this Omega offers a versatile size, comfortable on most wrists. The golden dial is original and very well preserved. The gold-plated finish shows signs of wear, notably on the bezel and around the case, consistent with the age of the piece and disclosed with complete transparency. The replaced acrylic Crystal is in very good condition; the recently fitted black lizard-style leather strap completes the ensemble.
Three points to note
- Seamaster automatic date movement, Omega manufacture caliber 1012 (1010 family).
- Case tonneau gold-plated case, original champagne-gold dial in very well-preserved condition.
- Signs of wear on the gold plating around the bezel and case; replaced acrylic Crystal (9/10). Everything is disclosed without reservation.

Frequently asked questions
What is the Omega Seamaster line?
Launched in 1948, the Seamaster is one of the oldest collections still produced by Omega. Originally designed to combine robustness and elegance, it spans both dive watches and dress models like this one. Vintage Seamaster models from the 1970s are highly sought after for their reliability, refined aesthetics, and connection to the brand’s history.
What is the Omega 1012 caliber?
The 1012 is an Omega-manufactured automatic movement with date, from the 1010 family produced in the 1970s. Equipped with a quick-set date change, it is renowned for its robustness and precision. Fully serviced, this tried-and-tested caliber ensures reliable daily operation, making it a movement prized by vintage Omega enthusiasts.
Can an Omega archive extract be obtained for this watch?
Yes. Omega offers an official archive extract service which, using the serial number, confirms the production date and original configuration of the watch. This process is carried out directly with Omega, on their official website.
Is the case solid gold?
No: it is a gold-plated case on a steel back, a common configuration on dress Seamaster watches from this era. The plating offers the brilliance of gold at a fraction of the price. On this piece, the gold plating shows signs of wear on the bezel and perimeter, transparently disclosed and consistent with its age.
Can the Crystal be improved?
The acrylic Crystal, already replaced, is in very good condition (9/10). One of the advantages of acrylic is that it can be polished to reduce surface scratches: a simple intervention a watchmaker can carry out if you wish.
Is this watch suitable for a man or a woman?
With its tonneau case measuring 34.5mm, it is a versatile piece, elegant on the wrist of both a man and a woman. Its dress watch form and gold-tone dial make it a watch that pairs equally well with formal attire and everyday wear.
