Atelier Note

Twenty-two millimetres of gold and silver, a seconds hand as fine as an eyelash — the ladies' watch Omega was designing in 1966, when mechanics could fit inside a piece of jewellery.

A De Ville from 1966, Omega mechanics in jewellery format

This Omega watch is a De Ville, reference 541.003, dated 1966. The De Ville was born within the Seamaster line and became a collection in its own right in 1967, when it dropped the name Seamaster from its dials. This one is its feminine expression: a round gold-plated 22mm case, the jewellery format that mechanical watchmaking hardly produces anymore.

The brushed silver dial consists of a few elements: twelve gilt applied baton markers, heightened by a black line, the OMEGA signature beneath the house symbol, the words SWISS MADE — nothing else. Two black baton hands and a centre seconds hand as fine as an eyelash sweep across the whole.

The case with tapered lugs retains its original fluted crown, and its original strap in black suede-effect leather, with its Buckle: that they have stayed with the watch since the 1960s is uncommon on watches of this format.

The Omega calibre 630, a hand-wound mechanical movement, measures 18mm in diameter and 3.1mm in height, has 17 jewels, beats at 19,800 vibrations per hour and offers around 42 hours of power reserve, centre seconds included. Omega produced it from 1962 to 1974. It was serviced in May 2025 by our partner watchmakers and comes with a 1-year guarantee.

Three points to note

01

22mm jewellery format — Omega mechanics on the scale of a bracelet, a segment new production has abandoned.

02

Omega calibre 630 — manual, 17 jewels, centre seconds, around 42 hours of power reserve.

03

Original crown, strap and Buckle — a complete set after sixty years, with the leather requiring the care due to its age.

Why choose this Omega De Ville?

This pre-owned Omega watch holds a distinct place among our vintage women's watches: it is a major-house mechanical watch in jewellery format, a combination that contemporary watchmaking hardly offers anymore, quartz having absorbed this segment. The De Ville is the line Omega dedicated to de ville elegance, and this feminine version carries its exact design.

Like all our vintage mechanical watches , this one has been opened and checked by our partner watchmakers: verification of the calibre and its consistency with the reference, examination of the dial, hands and case. Each vintage Omega watch we offer comes with an invoice from Atelier Victor serving as a certificate, a 1-year guarantee and lifetime guaranteed authenticity.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Omega De Ville line?
It is the line Omega dedicated to the de ville watch. It first appeared within the Seamaster collection, then became a line in its own right in 1967, when the name Seamaster disappeared from its dials. Its design remained constant: slim, pared-back watches, intended for the city rather than for sport.

Why does the dial not bear the mention De Ville?
On this piece, the 22mm dial bears only the Omega signature and the words SWISS MADE: it is the reference engraved on the caseback that links the watch to the line. This sobriety is common on the small women's references of the period, where the available space determines the printing.

A mechanical movement in a 22mm women's watch?
Yes, and it has become rare. Mechanical ladies' calibres, miniaturised to the extreme, practically disappeared with the arrival of quartz, and the current industry almost no longer produces them in this size. This one beats to the rhythm of the Omega 630 calibre, an in-house 18mm movement that is hand-wound.

How do you wind a hand-wound watch?
Gently turn the crown clockwise, about twenty turns, until you feel resistance. Never force it beyond that. Daily winding, at the same time each day, is enough to keep the watch running and ensures the best regularity.

Is this piece suitable for a slim or larger wrist?
With a 22mm diameter, 28mm Lug-to-lug and 7.3mm thickness, it is a jewellery format intended for slim to medium wrists — a guide, never a rule: everyone wears what they like. It can be worn on its own or alongside slim bracelets, without ever crowding the wrist. The Lug width measures 12mm, which makes it easy to change the strap.
