Two hands, twelve applied baton markers and the winged hourglass: the champagne dial says nothing more. On the back, a handwritten signature engraved in the steel — Les Grandes Classiques — and nothing other than the time, on a five-and-a-half-millimetre cushion of gold.
Les Grandes Classiques: a gold-plated cushion with a champagne dial
This Longines watch is a gold-plated dress watch from the Les Grandes Classiques line, reference 7413, dated to the 1990s. The case is a cushion: a square whose four corners are softened until they become curves, framed by a stepped bezel descending towards the Crystal. The lugs, short and folded under the case middle, bring the leather close against the wrist.
The champagne dial is satin-finished and perfectly smooth. Twelve golden applied baton markers run around it, set without a minute track or numerals. Below 12 o'clock, the LONGINES signature and the winged hourglass, the house emblem. At the bottom of the dial, the mention 140 SWISS 7413.
The steel caseback bears the name Les Grandes Classiques engraved in handwritten script, two framed hallmarks, the serial number and reference 7413. It is the back that identifies the piece: the dial itself bears no line name.
Two faceted gold-tone hands are enough for the display: no seconds hand, no date window. The movement is a Swiss quartz, serviced in July 2026 by our watchmakers and guaranteed for one year. At 5.5mm thick and 31.5mm wide, the watch slips under a cuff without a thought.

- Overall condition : Good state of preservation. The champagne dial is clean, and the applied markers and signature are intact. The steel caseback is brushed and its engraving perfectly legible. The gold-plated bezel shows scratches and marks from wear on its edges, with plating thinned in places, visible in our photographs; the hands show slight surface graining. What does Les Grandes Classiques engraved on the caseback mean?
It is a line designation used by Longines for its dress watches. It was registered by the house, which declares its first commercial use on 30 June 1987. Here it appears on the back and not on the dial, which is the usual practice for this generation: the caseback bears the designation, the hallmarks, the serial number and the reference.
What is the winged hourglass on the dial?
It is the Longines emblem, an hourglass fitted with two wings, which the house has placed on its dials and engraved on its movements since the end of the 19th century. Here it accompanies the signature below 12 o'clock, and serves as much as a hallmark as an identifying feature for those who know the house.
Why does the watch have only two hands?
It is a design choice typical of dress watches: without a seconds hand or date window, the dial remains still and can be read at a glance. Nothing turns constantly, nothing shifts at the end of the month. This restraint is also what allows the thinness of the case.
Does a gold-plated case require precautions?
Yes, more than steel. The plating is a layer of gold applied to a base metal: it wears at friction points, mainly the edges of the bezel and the back. It is preserved by avoiding water, household products and cosmetics, and is cleaned with a soft, dry cloth, never with an abrasive or polishing paste, which remove the layer.
Is this piece suitable for a slim or large wrist?
At 31.5mm wide, 37.5mm Lug-to-lug and 5.5mm thick, it suits wrists of about 15 to 19cm — a guide, never a rule: everyone wears what they like. A cushion case occupies visually a little more space than a round case of the same size, and its thinness makes it disappear under a sleeve.
