A yellow gold rectangle under six millimetres thick
This Baume & Mercier watch, reference 37059, produced at the turn of the 1970s and 1980s, is housed in a rectangular Tank-style case in 18-carat yellow gold, measuring 25.5mm in width and 5.8mm thick. On the white dial, black painted Roman numerals run around the entire perimeter, framed by a railway minute track; two black hands, the Baume & Mercier Genève signature beneath twelve o'clock, and the SWISS MADE mention at the bottom complete a display reduced to the essentials: hours, minutes.
The crown is set with a dark stone cabochon, in the tradition of shaped dress watches — a detail that pieces in this category often lose over the course of interventions, and which is original here, just like the Buckle pin buckle.
The movement is a Baume & Mercier BM777 calibre, a hand-wound mechanical movement, whose extra-thin construction allows for this 5.8mm profile, Crystal included. It is the classic exercise of the Geneva house, whose watchmaking roots go back to 1830: the precious shaped watch, without complication, designed to disappear beneath a cuff.
The piece is fitted with a black crocodile-pattern leather strap, and accompanied by its original box — an element rarely preserved with watches from this period.

Which original elements does this piece retain?

As water resistance is not guaranteed, any contact with water should be avoided.
