Alba Vient — Triple Calendar and Moon Phase in a Square Case
This Alba Vient watch, produced around 1995, is a Japanese piece surprisingly rich in complications for its size. Issued by Alba, the youthful and creative line of Seiko, it features a complete triple calendar — day, date, and month — crowned by a day/night indicator in the form of a moon phase. A true little calendar on the wrist, in a square case with retro charm.
The white guilloché dial orchestrates this information-rich mechanism with remarkable legibility. Three counters share the surface: the month at the top (from January to December), the day of the week on the left, and the date on the right. At the bottom, a day/night aperture depicts a gilded sun and a moon against a blue sky, in the tradition of astronomical displays. The VIENT ALBA signature completes the composition.
The black Arabic numerals arranged around the edge and the blued hands — central for the hour, and slender for each counter — ensure clear reading of this ensemble of information. The contrast of blue on white brings a touch of classic watchmaking elegance.
