Atelier Note

A golden moon on a midnight blue sky scattered with stars, beneath a gold-plated bezel engraved with Roman numerals. A 1989 Seiko Alba, on its original bracelet. Checked, delivered with its Atelier Victor invoice serving as a certificate.

A 1989 Seiko Alba, moonphase and gold-plated bezel

The steel case measures 33.5mm in diameter and 7.5mm thick. It has a gold-plated bezel, engraved with Roman numerals all around, and a gold-plated crown to match. The lugs take the bracelet on a 17mm Lug width, with 39mm Lug-to-lug. The caseback is steel.

Below 12 o'clock, the moonphase aperture opens onto a midnight blue disc scattered with stars, where a golden moon advances through the lunar cycle. The white dial has gold-tone baton markers, a Roman numeral at 12 o'clock and a minute track of gold-tone dots; the date appears in an aperture at 6 o'clock. The gold-tone hands and fine seconds hand stand out against this light background. Dial and hands are original.

Alba is a brand of Seiko, which designs it and makes its movements. This piece is powered by the V338 calibre, a Seiko quartz with moonphase and date; the serial number engraved on the caseback dates production to March 1989.

The watch has kept its original steel bracelet, with links outlined by gold-plated lines, and its Buckle folding clasp; it adjusts to a wrist of around 17.5cm. With a 33.5mm diameter and 7.5mm thickness, it can be worn on a women's wrist as well as on a slim men's wrist.

Frequently asked questions

What is Alba?
A watch brand created by Seiko, which handles its design and movements. This piece bears the Alba signature on the dial and a Seiko V338 calibre inside.

How does the moonphase work?
A midnight blue disc, painted with stars and gold-tone moons, turns slowly beneath the aperture at 12 o'clock and reproduces the lunar cycle, of approximately 29.5 days. Once set, the displayed moon follows that of the sky.

How is this watch dated?
By its serial number, engraved on the caseback. At Seiko, the first digit gives the year within the decade and the second the month: 93•••• here corresponds to March 1989.

Is the bracelet original and what size is it?
Yes. The steel bracelet with gold-plated threads and its Buckle folding clasp are those of the watch; it adjusts to a wrist of approximately 17.5cm.

How do delivery and payment work?
The piece is shipped with tracking and insurance by a trusted carrier, to a collection point or to your home depending on the destination. Delivery is free.
