A Vintage Alba Success moonphase, midnight blue dial and gold-plated case
The 30mm round case measures 7mm thick. Its polished, gold-plated bezel extends into lugs detached from the caseband; at their junction, two words engraved in relief answer each other: Vintage at 12 o'clock, Success at 6 o'clock. The steel caseback bears the piece's reference.
The midnight blue dial becomes lighter toward the centre and darker toward the edge. Applied gold-tone baton markers and a Roman numeral XII frame it, linked by a minute track in gold-tone cartouches. In the upper half, an arched aperture reveals a golden moon on a sky sprinkled with gold dots, bordered by blue clouds. The date window, with a white background, is at 6 o'clock; the tapered gold-tone hands and the slender seconds hand stand out against the blue. The Success Vintage Alba signature is printed in gold-tone above the date.
Alba is a brand of the Seiko group, and Success its dress line; the word Vintage, printed on the dial and engraved on the bezel, is the name of the variation. The V338 calibre is a Japanese quartz with moonphase and date. The serial number places production in April, with the year estimated at 2003.
The original gold-tone crown is set into the caseband at 3 o'clock. The watch is fitted with a black crocodile leather strap with Buckle gold-tone pin buckle. With a 37mm lug-to-lug, it can be worn on a man's wrist as well as on a woman's wrist. It comes with its original papers.

What is Alba?
A brand of the Seiko group, of which Success was the dress line. Calibre V338 is a Japanese quartz movement. We do not attribute to this piece any history that we cannot verify.
Why does the word Vintage appear on the dial?
It is the name of the variation, printed on the dial and engraved on the bezel from the factory: it does not describe the age of the watch.
The dial bears a different code from the caseback: is that normal?
Yes. At Seiko and Alba, the code printed at the bottom of the dial is that of the dial itself. The watch reference is engraved on the caseback, here V338-6B60: the first group designates the calibre, the second the case.
Is this watch suitable for a woman's wrist?
Yes. With a 30mm diameter, 37mm Lug-to-lug and 7mm thickness, it wears equally well on a man's or a woman's wrist.
