This Alba stands out for its charming day-night display, nestled in an arched aperture at 12 o’clock. A radiant sun glides across the bright part of the day, then gives way to a midnight-blue night sky punctuated by a star. Powered by a round gold-plated case and a textured silver dial, this small celestial theater brings a poetic touch to an otherwise highly legible watch.
The silver dial features a frosted finish that delicately catches the light. The black Arabic numerals frame a broad, finely detailed chapter ring, while the open-ended baton hands, in gold and black, ensure a clear reading of the time. The “Alba Quartz” signature appears discreetly beneath the center. The whole creates a dial rich in detail, never tipping into excess.
Under the Crystal mineral crystal beats a Japanese quartz movement signed by Seiko, the V535 caliber, which drives the hours, minutes, seconds, as well as the day-night indicator. Is it a true moon phase?
Not strictly speaking. This sun-moon display is a 24-hour day-night indicator, often called a "moonphase" in common usage, but it does not follow the 29.5-day lunar cycle of an astronomical complication.
