Atelier Note
A speckled dial like a quail egg, eight gold dots, two dauphine hands, and beneath the signature a word that made Tissot history in 1930: Antimagnétique.
A vintage Tissot Antimagnétique watch, the heir to 1930 in a 1950s version
This vintage Tissot watch bears on its dial the name of a historic line. In 1930, Tissot introduced the Antimagnétique, which it claimed as the first wristwatch protected against magnetic fields: a balance spring and escapement components in alloys unaffected by magnetization, at a time when electricity, radio, and the telephone were entering the home. The line remained in the catalogue through the 1950s, offered in successive cases, dials, and movements. Founded in 1853 in Le Locle and allied with Omega within SSIH since 1930, Tissot presents here a mechanical watch from the 1950s, Swiss Made at the bottom of the dial.
Its silvered dial has acquired over time a regular speckled patina, unique to this example. Three Arabic numerals at 12, 3, and 9, eight applied markers in gold dots paired with black squares on the minute track, two golden dauphine hands, and at six o'clock a sub-seconds register engraved with concentric circles, marked in 15-second increments. The Tissot signature in cursive, with Antimagnétique beneath.
The steel 35mm case, 43mm Lug-to-lug and 10.2mm thick, retains a classic format for the period, with a steel caseback, a fluted crown, and an acrylic Crystal. The hand-wound mechanical movement was serviced in 2025 by our partner watchmakers and is guaranteed for one year. The watch is fitted with a beige suede leather strap with white stitching and Buckle buckle, both later additions.
Three points to note
01
Antimagnétique, 1930 — the line that Tissot claimed as the first wristwatch protected against magnetic fields, here in a 1950s version.
02
Speckled patina — the original silvered dial, marked by time, unique to this example.
03
35mm steel with sub-seconds — three numerals, eight gold dots, golden dauphine hands, for him as for her.
Why choose a vintage Tissot watch?
This vintage Tissot watch holds a precise place among vintage men's and women's watches : its 35mm size can be worn equally well by either men or women, and it bears a name that matters in the brand's history, that of its antimagnetic line from 1930, on an original dial speckled by time. A Swiss vintage mechanical watch from the post-war period, at an entry-level budget into watchmaking from Le Locle.
Like all our vintage mechanical watches, this one has been opened and inspected by our partner watchmakers: movement verification, examination of the dial, hands and case. Each vintage watch we offer comes with an Atelier Victor invoice serving as a certificate, a one-year guarantee, and guaranteed lifetime authenticity.

Frequently asked questions
What does Antimagnétique mean on the dial?
It is the name of the line launched by Tissot in 1930, which the brand describes as the first wristwatch protected from magnetic fields: its hairspring and escapement components are made of alloys unaffected by magnetization. The line remained in the catalogue until the 1950s. This protection applies to the magnetic fields of its time; like any old mechanical watch, it should still be kept away from today's magnets, bag clasps or phone cases.
Is the dial original?
Yes, and it has never been restored. Its speckled patina was formed over time on the silvered background, evenly across the entire surface, and no dial ages in exactly the same way twice: this one exists as a unique example. The applied gold hour markers and golden dauphine hands are also original.
Has the movement been serviced?
Yes, in 2025, by our partner watchmakers: complete disassembly, cleaning, oiling and adjustment. It is guaranteed for one year. A hand-wound watch should be wound every day, and a vintage watch is not guaranteed water-resistant.
What is the history of Tissot?
Founded in 1853 in Le Locle, in the Swiss Jura, by Charles-Félicien Tissot and his son Charles-Émile, the house joined forces with Omega in 1930 within SSIH, which has since become the Swatch Group. It has achieved several technical firsts, including the antimagnetic watch of 1930, and remains a benchmark in accessible Swiss watchmaking.
Is this piece suitable for a slim or larger wrist?
With a 35mm diameter, 43mm Lug-to-lug and 10.2mm thickness, it suits wrists from approximately 15 to 19cm — a guideline, never a rule: everyone wears what they like. The Lug width measures 18mm, which makes it easy to change the strap.
