A lacquered black that reflects everything, twelve golden Roman numerals, a railroad track as fine as a thread, a dark cabochon on the crown: less than eight millimetres thick, the dress watch of the 1980s, born in the Solothurn Jura and sold as far as Rio and Tokyo.
A vintage 1980s Technos dress watch, gold-plated with a black dial and Roman numerals
This vintage Technos watch comes from a factory in the Solothurn Jura: in Welschenrohr, Melchior Gunzinger opened his atelier in 1900, his son Joseph registered the Technos brand in 1924, and the house became the village's employer, exporting after the war to Japan and Brazil, reaching more than half a million watches in 1973. Sold in 1970 to General Watch Co., the brand still produced in Switzerland in the 1980s, Swiss at the bottom of the dial, before coming under Brazilian ownership. This one is a dress watch from that final Swiss period: gold-plated, black lacquered dial, golden Roman numerals, cabochon crown, and 7.7mm thick, a two-hand mechanical watch.
Its original black lacquered dial is mirror-like: twelve golden Roman numerals frame it, a golden railroad track, as fine as a thread, outlines the centre, and two original golden leaf hands turn alone, without a seconds hand. Technos beneath XII, Swiss at the bottom.
The gold-plated 31mm case, 35.4mm Lug-to-lug for 7.7mm thick, features a slim bezel and short lugs, with a steel caseback, an original cabochon crown and a mineral Crystal. The hand-wound mechanical movement has been checked by our partner watchmakers and is guaranteed for one year. The watch is fitted with a brown crocodile-style leather strap with a steel Buckle, both later additions.

Yes: the dial bears the word Swiss, and the watch dates from the period when Technos was still producing in Switzerland. Why is there no seconds hand?
By design: the extra-thin dress watch displays only the hours and minutes, with two feuille hands against the lacquered black dial. Fewer parts, less thickness: 7.7mm beneath the Crystal.
Has the movement been checked?
Yes. Our partner watchmakers have checked the movement, dial, hands and case; it is guaranteed for one year. A hand-wound watch is wound daily, and a vintage watch is not guaranteed water-resistant.
Is this piece suitable for a slim or larger wrist?
With a 31mm diameter, 35.4mm Lug-to-lug, and 7.7mm thickness, it suits wrists of approximately 14 to 18cm — a guideline, never a rule: everyone wears what they like. Its short lugs and slim profile allow it to sit flat on the wrist, beneath any cuff.

Each watch is examined by our partner watchmakers before being offered for sale: verification of authenticity, checking the conformity of the components, identification of any modification or replacement of original parts.
If any element has been replaced during the life of the watch (dial, hands, crown, Crystal, strap), we systematically indicate it in the product sheet. You buy knowing the exact history of your piece.
