A black dial, twelve numerals whose lume has faded to cream, two lance hands and a red seconds hand sweeping across it like a warning: Sportivnie, "the sporty ones," the name Moscow gave, in the 1950s, to its watches made to be read quickly.

This vintage Sportivnie watch bears a name that is a program in itself: Спортивные, "the sporty ones," the model that the First Moscow Watch Factory, the Kirov factory that would later sign the Poljot, intended in the 1950s for active life, with a black dial for contrast, luminescent numerals for the night, a red seconds hand to read the seconds at a glance, and a 17-jewel movement. Сделано в СССР, made in the USSR, is printed at the bottom of the dial. A mechanical watch with hand-wound movement, in 32.8mm steel, in the register of post-war service watches.
Its original black dial seeks only legibility: twelve luminescent Arabic numerals, whose material has faded to cream over time, a fine white minute track, two original lance hands with patinated luminescent channels, and a red central seconds hand. Спортивные and 17 камней, seventeen jewels, below 12; Сделано в СССР above 6. A few signs of age, specific to this example.
The steel case of 32.8mm, 41.7mm lug to lug for 11.8mm thickness, features a thin bezel and straight lugs marked by use, with a steel caseback, an original fluted crown and an acrylic Crystal. The 17-jewel hand-wound mechanical movement was serviced in 2023 by our partner watchmakers and is guaranteed for one year. The watch is fitted with a black grained leather strap and a steel Buckle, both later replacements.

What does Sportivnie mean?
Sportivnye, “les sportives”: the name of a model from the First Moscow Watch Factory, the Kirov factory, in the 1950s, designed for active life, with a contrasting black dial, luminous numerals, and a red seconds hand. The same factory would later produce the Poljot.
Where does this watch come from?
From the First Moscow Watch Factory, founded in 1930 using the tooling of Dueber-Hampden in Canton, Ohio, acquired by the USSR, and named after Kirov in 1935: the first Soviet watchmaking factory, the one behind the Pobeda, the Sturmanskie, and the Poljot. The dial bears the inscription Сделано в СССР, made in the USSR.
Do the numerals still glow?
No. The luminous material on the numerals and hands has faded to a cream tone over time and no longer lights up at night; it is the patina of time on this black dial, unique to this example.
Has the movement been serviced?
Yes, in 2023, by our partner watchmakers: complete disassembly, cleaning, oiling, and regulation. It is guaranteed for one year. A hand-wound watch is wound daily, and a vintage watch is not guaranteed water-resistant.
Is this piece suitable for a slim or larger wrist?
With a diameter of 32.8mm, 41.7mm Lug-to-lug, and 11.8mm thick, it suits wrists of approximately 15 to 18cm — a guide, never a rule: everyone wears what they like. Its straight lugs give it the presence on the wrist of a larger watch. The Lug width measures 16mm.

Each watch is examined by our partner watchmakers before being offered for sale: verification of authenticity, checking the conformity of the components, identification of any modification or replacement of original parts.
If any element has been replaced during the life of the watch (dial, hands, crown, Crystal, strap), we systematically indicate it in the product sheet. You buy knowing the exact history of your piece.
