Seiko Tank steel: the rectangular dress watch with white Arabic dial in the style of antique watches
This Seiko watch is a rectangular-shaped watch with retro charm, unisex, worn equally well by a man or a woman. Its vertical rectangular steel case, with clean lines enhanced by a thin gold-tone bezel, evokes the elegance of antique-shaped watches. It measures 24mm wide (25.5mm with the crown) for a Lug-to-lug of 35mm and a thickness of only 5.9mm. A slim, distinctive piece, made to slip under a cuff.
The white lacquered dial is a charming tribute to watches of the past. Large black Arabic numerals, with an elegant slanted script in the Breguet style, circle the dial, framed by a railway minute track and punctuated with small gold-tone dots at the markers. The SEIKO signature occupies the top of the dial. Two fine blackened hands and a gold-tone centre seconds hand sweep across the whole, in a resolutely classic spirit.
Inside beats the Seiko V701 calibre, a three-hand quartz movement. In practice, servicing is limited to battery replacement by any watchmaker. The movement of this example has been checked by our watchmaker and the battery replaced before shipping. It is the choice of precision and simplicity, serving a dial full of character.
On the wrist, the piece plays the retro classic card. The rectangular steel case with gold-tone bezel and the white Arabic dial create an elegant and timeless whole, highlighted here by a genuine crocodile leather strap in black. This strap is not original; it is fitted with a Buckle steel. The Lug width of 20mm leaves the choice of replacement straps open.
