Seiko Noie gold-plated: the small baignoire watch with white Arabic dial and blued hands

This Seiko watch belongs to the Noie line, recognizable by its hexagonal “N” logo, a feminine dress collection from the brand. Designed above all for women or for men with slim wrists, it charms with its baignoire shape: an elongated oval case, all softness, whose vertical silhouette sits beautifully on the wrist. Its gold-plated case, with lugs adorned with scrolls, measures 20.5mm wide (22mm with the crown) for a Lug-to-lug of 33.2mm and a thickness of only 6mm. A delicate piece, halfway between a watch and a jewel.

The white lacquered dial has absolute retro charm. Fine black Arabic numerals, in a slanted Breguet-style script, circle its edge beneath the SEIKO signature and the small gold “N” logo of the Noie line at 6 o’clock. Two elegant blued hands stand out subtly against the light background, bringing a touch of traditional watchmaking to this shaped piece.

Inside beats the Seiko 1F21 caliber, a ladies’ quartz movement. In practice, maintenance is limited to battery replacement by any watchmaker. The movement of this example has been checked by our watchmaker and the battery replaced before shipping. It is the choice of precision and simplicity, serving a dial full of delicacy.

On the wrist, the piece plays the part of a retro de ville jewel. The warm gold-plating, the white Arabic dial and the blued hands create a dress watch of great elegance, highlighted here by a brown lizard-style leather. This strap is not original. The 12mm Lug width directs the choice of replacement straps toward very narrow widths.

Three points to note

  • The baignoire shape, elongated oval, is the charm of the piece: a soft and feminine silhouette that hugs the wrist.
  • The blued hands bring a touch of traditional watchmaking, rare and precious on a small shaped watch.
  • The case is gold-plated, not solid: it shows light signs of wear, noted in full transparency.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Seiko Noie line?
Noie is a line of ladies' dress watches by Seiko, recognizable by its hexagonal “N” logo on the dial. It brings together carefully crafted cases, often shaped, and pared-back dials, in the spirit of jewelry watchmaking. This example, in gold-plated finish and with a baignoire shape, is an elegant and refined expression of it.

What is a “baignoire” shape?
The baignoire shape refers to an elongated oval case, with a soft vertical silhouette, evoking the shape of a bathtub seen from above. It is a classic, feminine shape in shaped watchmaking, appreciated for the way it follows the wrist and elegantly lengthens the line. This Seiko offers a lovely interpretation of it, at a very accessible price point.

Why are the hands blue?
Blued hands are a refinement of traditional watchmaking: the steel is heated until it takes on a deep blue hue, both decorative and protective. On this watch, they bring an elegant contrast with the white dial and a touch of rare sophistication on a piece of this size.

Is the case made of solid gold?
No: it is a gold-plated case on a steel back, a common construction on Seiko dress watches. The plating brings the warmth and brilliance of gold for a fraction of its price. This piece shows light signs of wear on its plating, disclosed with full transparency.

What wrist does this watch suit?
With a 20.5mm-wide baignoire case and a Lug-to-lug of 33.2mm, it is above all a women's watch, or a men's watch for a slim wrist. That said, a watch is also a matter of style: depending on personal taste and the look sought, it can be worn beyond these reference points by anyone who appreciates its retro, delicate charm. Sizing is only a guide, never a rule.
