A vintage Seiko Chronos watch from the 1980s, octagonal steel with a tapestry dial
This Seiko watch belongs to the Chronos line, one of the quartz lines the brand offered in the 1980s, mainly for the Japanese market: dress watches with a sober design and worked dials. This 7433-5010 reference is dated February 1984.
The white dial is covered with a fine raised texture, which collectors call a tapestry dial. It has applied baton markers, doubled at 12 o'clock, a minute track around the edge, and the SEIKO QUARTZ and Chronos signatures. At 3 o'clock, the day-date window displays the day in kanji: 土, Saturday, in blue.
The octagonal steel case measures 33mm wide by 36.5mm Lug-to-lug and 8mm thick: a polished faceted bezel set on a brushed case middle. The movement is a Seiko quartz calibre 7433, with day and date, checked. The watch is fitted with its original steel bracelet with staggered links, with its original Buckle, and accompanied by its original papers.

What does the character 土 mean in the window?

Are the dial, bracelet and papers original?
Yes. The tapisserie dial, the markers and the hands are original, as are the crown, the steel bracelet and its Buckle. The watch comes with its original papers, unsigned by the period retailer, in addition to the invoice Atelier Victor.
Is this quartz watch suitable for daily wear?
Yes. A quartz movement requires neither winding nor daily adjustment: you simply put it on your wrist. The battery change takes a few minutes at a watchmaker. As with any vintage watch, water resistance is not guaranteed: it should be removed before showering or swimming.
Is this piece suitable for a slim or larger wrist?
At 33mm wide, 36.5mm lug-to-lug and 8mm thick, it suits wrists of approximately 14 to 17cm — a guide, never a rule: everyone wears what they like. The steel bracelet measures 17.5cm. The Lug width measures 18mm.
