An Avenue small model, the pocket watch in miniature
This Seiko watch is an Avenue, reference 2K22-0080, dated 1998 — the small model of the dress line that Seiko designed in the 1990s for the classical register. The same vocabulary as the men's version, reduced to the scale of a slender wrist: that of the pocket watch.
The white dial unfolds its codes: twelve elongated black Roman numerals, a railway minute track, two leaf hands — and above all a sub-seconds at six o'clock, that separate register where the seconds rotate on their own silvered circle. On a quartz movement, and in this format, a sub-seconds display is a true rarity: it requires a calibre built for it.
The gold-plated round 23.5mm case, with fine, open lugs, measures only 6.4mm thick — a jewel-like format. The crown, replaced during the life of the watch, is steel.
The Seiko 2K22 quartz calibre has been checked and is guaranteed for one year. The watch comes with its original papers, unsigned — a rarity on these references — and is fitted with a black grained leather strap with later Buckle steel.

What is a sub-seconds display?
It is a separate register, here at six o’clock, where the seconds rotate on their own axis instead of using a central seconds hand — the architecture of pocket watches, inherited by wristwatches before the central seconds hand became standard. On a quartz watch of this format, it is exceedingly rare: it requires a specifically constructed caliber, and gives the small dial a rhythm that watches of this size almost never have.
What is the Seiko Avenue line?
It is the dress line that Seiko produced in the 1990s: slim, classic watches — Roman numerals, white dials, golden or steel cases — conceived as a counterpoint to the house's technical ranges, and offered in several sizes based on the same design. A discreet line now discontinued, it offers the most affordable access to the dress register of Seiko.
The crown is not original: is that a problem?
No, and we state it precisely because it is common: the crown is a wear part, replaced during servicing. This one is a functional steel crown, fitted during the watch's lifetime. The essential elements — dial, hands, case and movement — are original and correct.
What do the original papers include?
The documents provided by Seiko at the time of sale, kept with the watch since then — unsigned by the period retailer, which is common. They accompany the piece in addition to the Atelier Victor invoice, which serves as a certificate of authenticity and activates the one-year guarantee. Finding a Seiko from this generation with its papers is uncommon.
Is this piece suitable for a slim or larger wrist?
With a 23.5mm diameter, 29mm Lug-to-lug, and 6.4mm thickness, it is a jewelry-sized format, intended for slim to medium wrists — a guide, never a rule: everyone wears what they like. It can be worn on its own or alongside fine bracelets. The Lug width measures 12mm, which makes it easy to change the strap.
