A Seiko TV from 1976, silver dial and original Milanese bracelet
This Seiko watch is a dress watch from 1976, with a distinctly seventies design. Its steel case takes on the "TV" shape: a rectangle with rounded corners and curved sides, wider than it is tall — 32.5mm by 29mm in Lug-to-lug —, evoking the television screen of the period. A shape much sought-after today, here worn on just 7.5mm of thickness.
The sunburst silver dial is brushed in rays from the center: its surface brightens and darkens in broad sections depending on the angle of the light. The applied baton hour markers, slim and faceted, mark the hours beneath the Seiko and Quartz signatures, with the quartz emblem at six o'clock. Two silvered baton hands are enough: no seconds hand, no date, nothing disturbs the surface.
The Milanese mesh bracelet is the original one — an uncommon survival after fifty years. Its tightly woven mesh, supple like fabric, blends into the case and adjusts without links: the clasp slides along the mesh, up to a 20cm wrist circumference.
The movement is a Seiko quartz caliber 4130, from the 41 family: the first compact quartz caliber that Seiko produced in large volumes, remaining in production through most of the 1970s. Reserved rather for the upper end of the catalog, it promised accuracy of twenty seconds per month and a battery life of more than one year. This one has been checked and fitted with a new battery.
Three points to note
- Case TV in steel — wider than tall, rounded corners, the emblematic shape of the 1970s.
- Original Milanese bracelet — supple mesh and sliding clasp, adjustable without links up to 20cm.
- First-generation quartz — caliber 4130 from the 41 family, checked and guaranteed for one year.
Why choose a Seiko quartz from the 1970s?
Buying a vintage Seiko quartz watch from this generation means buying an object that has nothing to do with the quartz that became commonplace ten years later: calibers assembled with the same care as the house's mechanical movements, in thoughtfully designed cases — and this one's TV case is proof of that.
This watch holds a distinct place among men's and women's vintage watches: its 32.5mm format, wider than it is tall, wears as a dress watch for either, and its Milanese bracelet adjusts to all wrists up to 20cm.
Like all our vintage quartz watches, this one has been opened and checked by our watchmakers: movement verification, examination of the dial, hands, and case. Every vintage watch we offer comes with a Atelier Victor invoice serving as a certificate, a one-year guarantee, and lifetime-guaranteed authenticity.

Frequently asked questions
What is a TV-shaped case?
It is a rectangular case with rounded corners and slightly curved sides, wider than it is tall, recalling the screens of 1970s television sets. The shape enjoyed its golden age in the middle of that decade, before almost completely disappearing from catalogues. Today it is making a return among the most sought-after vintage shapes, precisely because no current production has revived it.
Is the Milanese bracelet original?
Yes, and that is uncommon: original bracelets are often lost or replaced over the decades. The tightly woven Milanese mesh is supple like fabric and does not pinch. It adjusts without removing links: the clasp slides freely along the mesh and locks at the desired length, up to a 20cm wrist circumference.
Why does the minute hand advance in small steps?
Because this watch has no seconds hand, and on calibers from the 41 family without a seconds hand, the motor does not pulse every second but every five seconds. The minute hand therefore advances in regular micro-steps, imperceptible when reading the time. This is a technical signature of the first quartz Seiko, and a reliable way to identify a caliber from this generation.
How accurate is this watch?
Seiko stated for caliber 4130 an accuracy of twenty seconds per month — modest compared with a current quartz watch, but in 1976 far superior to any mechanical movement. The movement has been checked, fitted with a new battery, and is guaranteed for one year. Occasional time-setting should be expected, not daily.
What wrist size is this watch suitable for?
At 32.5mm wide for 29mm in Lug-to-lug, it is a compact format with a presence defined by its width, ideally suited to a slim to medium wrist, where the TV case spreads out without overhanging and where the Milanese bracelet adjusts to the millimetre up to 20cm. That said, a watch is also a matter of style: depending on personal taste and the look sought, this piece can be worn equally well by a man or a woman, on all kinds of wrists. The measurement is only a guide, never a rule.
