Seiko extra-thin steel: the small dress watch with cushion case and Roman dial
This Seiko watch is a dress watch in a delicate format, unisex provided the wrist is slender, worn equally well by a woman or a man. Its steel cushion case, square with very rounded corners, combines the softness of curves with the rigor of form. It measures 26mm (27.5mm with the crown) for a Lug-to-lug of 29.5mm and a thickness of only 6.3mm. A slim and discreet piece, in the purest tradition of the de ville watch.
The white lacquered dial is of absolute purity. Twelve black Roman numerals circle it, without the slightest superfluous ornament: nothing but the crisp contrast of black on white. The SEIKO and QUARTZ signatures occupy the center. Two slender blackened baton hands and a matching seconds hand sweep across the whole, in the purest spirit of the classic dress watch.
Inside beats the Seiko 2320 caliber, a dress quartz movement with three hands. Its slim construction allows the watch's 6.3mm profile. In practice, maintenance is limited to battery replacement by any watchmaker. The movement of this example was checked by our watchmaker and the battery replaced before shipping.
On the wrist, the piece plays the card of timeless classicism. The polished steel and white Roman dial create an ensemble of great clarity, highlighted here by a crocodile-style leather strap in black. This strap is not original; it is fitted with a Buckle pin buckle. The 14mm Lug width guides the choice of replacement straps toward narrow widths.
