A vintage Replay watch, new old stock, in brushed steel with an oval dial
This vintage Replay watch is a new old stock piece: made in the 1980s, never sold, never worn, preserved with its original strap and Buckle. The dial bears the REPLAY signature and the word SWISS; the movement is mechanical hand-wound.
The design is based on a contrast of shapes. The case is rectangular, with rounded corners, entirely brushed lengthwise. At the centre, a gold-tone oval bezel frames an oval dial as well, satin-finished in a warm grey tending towards beige depending on the light. The matte steel and polished gold answer each other without blending together.
On the dial, four gold-tone Roman numerals mark the quarters — XII, III, VI, IX — and eight fine baton markers mark the other hours. Two black baton hands indicate the hours and minutes; there is no seconds hand, which leaves the dial's satin finish uninterrupted.
The case measures 24.5mm wide, 35mm Lug-to-lug, and 7mm thick, with a 14mm Lug width holding the narrow strap. The steel crown is positioned at three o'clock, the caseback is steel. The movement has been checked by our partner watchmakers and carries a 1-year guarantee. The watch is presented on its original black crocodile-embossed leather, with its original Buckle.

Frequently asked questions
What does "new old stock" mean?
A piece made at the time, left unsold by a retailer or wholesaler, and never worn since. It has the age of its production and the condition of when it left atelier: original strap and Buckle, intact dial and hands. The movement, however, slept for forty years: that is why it was opened and checked before being offered for sale, like every mechanical piece we offer.
What do we know about the Replay brand?
Very little is documented. The dial bears the signature and the mention Swiss ; the movement is mechanical and hand-wound. We do not attribute to this piece any history that we cannot verify: what it has to offer lies in its design, its condition and its mechanics, and that is what this description sets out.
How do you wind a manual mechanical watch?
Using the crown, around twenty turns clockwise, each day at roughly the same time, never forcing past the point of resistance. A fully wound watch will keep its power reserve until the next day. To set the time, pull the crown out one notch; then push it fully back in to protect the movement.
Is the dial original?
Yes, and that is what the new old stock condition guarantees: the piece had never been opened for a repair before our inspection. The satin finish is even right to the edge, the Roman numerals are crisp, and the word Swiss appears at the bottom of the dial.
Is this piece suitable for a slim or larger wrist?
With a width of 24.5mm, 35mm Lug-to-lug and 7mm thickness, it suits wrists of around 13 to 17cm — a guideline, never a rule: everyone wears what they like. Its elongated shape makes it appear more present than a round watch of the same width. The 14mm Lug width is narrow: the original strap is the one it needs, and any replacement will require this size.
