Atelier Note
A smoky bronze that flares at the center and fades at the edges, twelve round numerals set upon it — the Raketa of the seventies in color, freshly serviced.
A Raketa with a smoky bronze dial, serviced and ready to wear
This watch is a Raketa, produced in the 1970s by the Petrodvorets manufacture, near Saint Petersburg — Russia’s oldest factory, founded by Peter the Great in 1721 as the atelier lapidary works of the Peterhof Palace, and renamed Raketa — “rocket” — in 1961, the year of Gagarin’s flight. The MADE IN USSR marking identifies it as the export version, sold as such in the West.
Its smoky bronze dial is its reason for being: a graduated sunburst whose warm golden heart radiates and darkens into deep brown toward the edges — the seventies vignette effect, changing with every light. Twelve painted white Arabic numerals, in the rounded typography characteristic of Soviet dials, fill the display, beneath hands with luminous channels with a cream patina and a slender seconds hand.
The polished cushion 33mm case bears the decade’s restrained design, with taut lugs, beneath a domed acrylic Crystal.
The hand-wound mechanical movement by Petrodvorets was serviced in 2024 by our partner watchmakers — complete disassembly, cleaning, oiling, and adjustment — and is guaranteed for one year. The watch is fitted with a later gold grained leather strap, extending the dial’s warm tones.

Why choose a vintage Soviet watch?
This vintage Raketa watch holds a precise place among vintage watches for men and women: its 33mm cushion case can be worn equally well by either, as a compact everyday piece, and its smoky dial brings to Soviet vintage what the market seeks most — the color of the seventies, on a manufacture movement freshly serviced, at the entry-level budget of authentic vintage.
Like all our vintage mechanical watches , this one has been opened and checked by our partner watchmakers: movement inspection, examination of the dial, hands and case. Each vintage watch we offer comes with an Atelier Victor invoice serving as a certificate, a one-year guarantee, and guaranteed lifetime authenticity.

Frequently asked questions
What is a fumé dial?
A dial whose color darkens in a gradient from the center toward the edges — here a golden bronze fading into deep brown, on a sunburst base that radiates outward. The effect, highly prized in the 1970s, has returned to the forefront of contemporary taste to the point that modern manufactures are reissuing it; period fumé dials, like this one, are the originals.
What does the 2024 service include?
A complete service by our partner watchmakers: disassembly of the movement, cleaning of each component, replacement of the oils, rate adjustment and reassembly. It is the maintenance that restores a fifty-year-old mechanical movement to its original regularity, and spares it from any intervention for many years to come. The movement is guaranteed for one year.
Who is Raketa?
The Petrodvorets manufacture, near Saint Petersburg — Russia's oldest factory, founded in 1721 by Peter the Great as the atelier stone-cutting workshop of the Peterhof Palace. Converted to watchmaking after the war, it took the name Raketa in 1961, meaning “rocket,” in tribute to Gagarin's flight. It produced its calibres entirely in-house — a true manufacture — and still exists today.
How do you wind a hand-wound watch?
Gently turn the crown clockwise, about twenty turns, until you feel resistance. Never force it beyond that point. Daily winding, at the same time each day, is enough to keep the watch running — Petrodvorets calibres are renowned for their robustness, and this one has just been serviced.
Is this piece suitable for a slim or larger wrist?
At 33mm in diameter, 39.7mm Lug-to-lug and 11mm thick, it suits wrists of approximately 14.5 to 18.5cm — a guideline, never a rule: everyone wears what they like. Its compact size makes it a discreet everyday watch, while the smoked dial provides all the drama. The Lug width measures 18mm, making it easy to change the strap.
