A Bordeaux Poljot, the dress watch from the First Factory
This watch is a Poljot — “Flight” in Russian — the brand of the First Moscow Watch Factory, founded in 1930: the oldest of the Soviet factories, created to provide the USSR with its own watchmaking industry, and renamed Poljot in honor of Gagarin's flight — on whose wrist was a watch from this factory. Its productions equipped Soviet pilots and cosmonauts; this one, signed in Latin script, is an export version from the 1970s.
Its sunburst Bordeaux dial defines its color: a deep red that blazes from the center and darkens toward the edges, shifting from garnet to purple depending on the light. Four white openworked numerals — 12, 3, 6, 9 — in the full-bodied seventies typography structure it, between baton indexes, beneath the mention 17 jewels. Two golden hands with white channels and a red seconds hand, blending into the background, sweep across the whole.
The gold-plated case of 34mm, with taut lugs and a steel caseback, extends the Bordeaux with a warm frame — the Bordeaux-and-gold pairing, the dressiest in the Soviet repertoire.
The 17-jewel hand-wound mechanical movement has been checked by our partner watchmakers and is guaranteed for one year. The watch is fitted on a later smooth black leather strap.

Who is Poljot?

Is the bordeaux color original?
Yes — it is an original sunburst dial, never restored, whose deep red shifts from garnet to purple depending on the angle of the light: our photographs show it under several lighting conditions. Colored dials from the 1970s are now the most sought-after in Soviet vintage, and burgundy, less common than blue, stands out.
How do you wind a hand-wound watch?
Gently turn the crown clockwise, about twenty turns, until you feel resistance. Never force it beyond that point. Daily winding, at the same time each day, is enough to keep the watch running and ensures the best regularity.
Is gold-plating durable?
If well preserved, yes: Soviet plating was applied in a thick layer, and this one has come through fifty years while retaining its color — its signs of wear are part of the piece’s history, visible in our photographs. The steel caseback ensures contact with the wrist.
Is this piece suitable for a slim or larger wrist?
With a 34mm diameter, 40.5mm Lug-to-lug, and 9.8mm thickness, it suits wrists from approximately 15 to 18.5cm — a guide, never a rule: everyone wears what they like. It is the period dress-watch format, one that slips easily under a shirt cuff. The Lug width measures 18mm, making it easy to change the strap.

Each watch is inspected by our watchmakers before shipping. In case of a mechanism malfunction during the first year, we cover the repair.
Authenticity warranty — lifetime
If a watch turns out to be non-authentic, we will take it back and refund you in full. Without time limit.

The accuracy of vintage watches varies according to the model, movement, and year of production. A request for accuracy improvement deemed within acceptable tolerances cannot be covered by the warranty.

Each watch is examined by our partner watchmakers before being offered for sale: verification of authenticity, checking the conformity of the components, identification of any modification or replacement of original parts.
If any element has been replaced during the life of the watch (dial, hands, crown, Crystal, strap), we systematically indicate it in the product sheet. You buy knowing the exact history of your piece.
