The Speedmaster in 39 millimeters, tritium dial
This Omega Speedmaster Reduced reference 3510.50, produced in 1995, can be worn equally well by a man or a woman, with a 39mm steel case — hence its name. Omega designed this variation as the reduced version of the Speedmaster Professional, whose 42mm did not suit every wrist. The design is fully retained: bezel with tachymeter scale, three subdials, pump pushers, downturned lugs.
The black dial features three subdials arranged according to the model's classic geometry: the sub-seconds at nine o'clock, the thirty-minute counter at three o'clock, and the twelve-hour counter at six o'clock. The hour markers and hands are in tritium, and they have turned cream. Omega discontinued this material at the end of the 1990s in favor of Superluminova, which remains white indefinitely: a Reduced with a patinated dial therefore belongs to a limited production window.
The dial is protected by an Crystal hesalite crystal, the same material as on the Moonwatch — a domed plexiglass that gives the dial a warmth and edge distortion that sapphire does not reproduce. It is the original version for this reference; only the later variations adopted sapphire.
The movement is a modular construction: an ETA 2890 automatic base topped by a Dubois-Dépraz 2020 chronograph module. This explains the position of the pushers, slightly offset compared with a hand-wound Speedmaster Professional, and the thickness of the case. The movement of this example has been serviced. The Reduced was produced from 1988 to the early 2010s and today represents the most accessible entry into the Speedmaster collection.
Three points to note
- Patinated tritium dial — the hour markers and hands have turned cream, a shade that the Superluminova of later generations does not develop.
- Crystal hesalite crystal — the same material as the Moonwatch, which scratches but can be polished again, unlike the sapphire on later versions.
- 39mm format — the Speedmaster in a size that the Professional does not offer, better suited to medium and slender wrists.
Why buy a pre-owned Omega?
Acquiring a pre-owned Omega watch rather than buying one in a boutique gives access to a Swiss manufacture chronograph at a budget significantly lower than new, in a piece that has already been broken in. The Speedmaster is moreover one of the models whose value is most stable, supported by a history that the maison has maintained since the Apollo missions.
The Reduced occupies a precise place among men's and women's watches: its 39mm format makes it a steel chronograph that can be worn equally by both, whereas the 42mm Professional requires a larger wrist. Examples with a tritium dial and Crystal hesalite crystal, like this one, are those collectors distinguish from later versions.
Like all our Omega watches, this one has been opened and checked by our watchmakers: verification of the caliber and its consistency with the reference, checking of the serial number, examination of the dial, hands, and case. Each pre-owned luxury watch that we offer comes with an invoice Atelier Victor serving as a certificate, a twelve-month mechanical warranty, and lifetime guaranteed authenticity.

Condition and warranty
- Overall condition: Excellent state of preservation. The black dial is immaculate, the subdials are crisp, and the cream patina of the tritium is even on both the hour markers and the hands. The hesalite Crystal is in excellent condition (9/10). The case has very likely been polished during its lifetime: the edges of the lugs have lost some of their sharpness, and the contrast between brushed and polished surfaces has softened.
- Water resistance: Rated to 30 meters when it left the factory. We do not carry out pressure testing and therefore do not guarantee this value on a pre-owned watch.
- Authenticity: Lifetime guarantee
- Mechanical: Serviced movement, guaranteed for 12 months
- Included: Invoice Atelier Victor, protective case, original card
- Not included: Original box, original invoice
Frequently asked questions
What is tritium and why the patina?
Tritium is the luminescent material used by Omega until the end of the 1990s, before being replaced by Superluminova. It loses its luminosity over time and takes on a cream to ivory hue that no one has managed to imitate convincingly. A Speedmaster Reduced with a patinated dial therefore belongs to a limited production window, and immediately stands apart from later examples, whose hour markers remain white.
What is hesalite Crystal?
It is a domed plexiglass crystal, the same material as that of the Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch. It scratches more easily than sapphire, but it can be polished: a polishing paste and a few minutes are enough to remove light marks, which is impossible on sapphire. It also gives the dial a warmth and an edge distortion that sapphire cannot reproduce.
What is the difference compared with a Speedmaster Professional?
Three main differences. First, the diameter: 39mm versus 42mm, which changes everything on the wrist. Then the movement: the Reduced is automatic, while the Professional remains hand-wound. Finally, the caseback: pressed on the Reduced, screwed on the Professional. The layout of the subdials, the design of the case, and the Crystal hesalite crystal are, however, shared by both.
Has the case been polished?
Most likely, during the life of the watch. Polishing removes a thin layer of metal to erase scratches; when repeated, it softens the edges and reduces the contrast between brushed and polished surfaces. On this example, the signs are visible on the lugs. This affects neither solidity nor operation, but it matters to a collector attached to the integrity of the original surfaces, and the price reflects this.
Is this piece suitable for a slim or large wrist?
With a 39mm diameter, 45mm Lug-to-lug, and 12.5mm thickness, it suits wrists of approximately 16 to 19cm. That is precisely the purpose of the Reduced: to offer the Speedmaster to those for whom the Professional's 42mm is too much. The bracelet measures 18.5cm and remains adjustable by removing links.
