This Omega Seamaster reference 2577-6 SC dates from 1952, in the middle of the lifespan of the foundational reference of the line: the 2577, with central seconds, was produced from 1948 to 1955, beginning with Omega’s centenary, and over those years it saw a great variety of dials and calibres. This example brings together two of its sought-after variants: a honeycomb dial, guilloché with hundreds of cells, and the calibre 354, a bumper automatic introduced into the 2577 in mid-1952, designed by Charles Perregaux, the culmination of Omega’s bumper masses before the full rotor of 1955. A steel automatic watch measuring 34.3mm, with the faceted lugs of Seamaster from the early 1950s.
Its silvered honeycomb dial is guilloché with hundreds of small cells that catch the light; the center has developed a warm, creamy patina, born of time and unique to this example. Four applied Arabic numerals at 12, 3, 6 and 9, eight applied arrow markers in steel with patinated luminous dots, a fine minute track, two original dauphine hands with luminous channels and a slender central seconds hand. The Ω and Omega Automatic below 12, Seamaster in cursive above 6, Swiss Made at the bottom. The dial belongs to the watch; an old reprinting of its inscriptions cannot be ruled out.
The steel 34.3mm case, 41.6mm lug to lug and 10.7mm thick, features a broad polished bezel and faceted lugs, the more robust design of Seamaster from 1952 to 1955, with a steel caseback, an original signed crown and an acrylic Crystal. The bumper calibre 354 has been serviced by our partner watchmakers and is guaranteed for one year. The watch is fitted with a black leather strap and steel pin buckle, both later.

- General condition: Good state of preservation for its age. The honeycomb dial bears a warm patina at the center, born of time, specific to this example; its numerals, markers and hands are crisp. The steel case shows the signs of wear of a watch that has been worn, which our photographs show without retouching, and the acrylic Crystal has scratches (7/10).

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a honeycomb dial?
An engine-turned dial with a pattern of tiny cells pressed into the metal, also called waffle or textured: the light breaks across it in hundreds of points, and the dial changes with every movement of the wrist. Omega offered it on the Seamaster 2577 in the early 1950s, in silvered as here, or in black; it is one of the most sought-after variants of the reference.
What is the Omega caliber 354?
A bumper automatic, or one with a hammer rotor: instead of a rotor turning through 360 degrees, a weight travels along an arc and rebounds against two springs, which can sometimes be felt on the wrist. Designed by Charles Perregaux, beating at 19,800 vibrations per hour, the 354 appeared in the Seamaster 2577 in mid-1952 and represents the culmination of Omega's bumper movements, replaced in 1955 by the full rotor of caliber 471. It existed in a standard grade and, with the word Chronometer on the dial, in a chronometer grade.
Is the dial original?
It is the watch's dial, with its honeycomb guilloché, its applied numerals and hour markers, and its patina born of time. An old reprint of its inscriptions, the cursive signature in particular, cannot however be ruled out.
What does SC mean?
Central seconds: the 2577 is the central-seconds version of the first Seamaster, its sister reference 2576 being with sub-seconds. The number that follows indicates the case variant, in steel, gold-plated or gold.
Is this piece suitable for a slim or larger wrist?
With a diameter of 34.3mm, 41.6mm Lug-to-lug and a thickness of 10.7mm, it suits wrists of approximately 15 to 19cm — a guide, never a rule: everyone wears what they like. Its wide bezel and faceted lugs give it the presence on the wrist of a larger watch. The Lug width measures 18mm, making it easy to change the strap.
