A vintage Omega Constellation watch from the 1960s, steel with a silvered dial
This vintage Omega watch is a Constellation, reference 157.0001. The Constellation is Omega's chronometer line: each movement was sent for official testing before being cased, and the dial states it plainly — OMEGA CHRONOMETER AUTOMATIC. This one is the ultra-thin version, in steel, without date or complication.
The movement is the Omega calibre 712, automatic, produced from 1967 to 1976: twenty-four jewels, 19,800 vibrations per hour, 42 hours of power reserve, and above all 3.00mm thick — the thinnest automatic calibre ever produced by Omega. It is this movement that explains the case's 7.3mm, Crystal included. It was serviced in July 2026 by our partner watchmakers and carries a 1-year guarantee. Its serial number places it in 1968.
The silvered dial is original, brushed with a fine grain that reflects the light in a continuous band. Twelve darkened applied baton markers mark the hours, doubled at 12 o'clock, and the Constellation signature appears in cursive beneath the logo. The baton hands, also darkened, are accompanied by an extremely fine centre seconds hand.
The steel case measures 34.5mm in diameter for 38.5mm Lug-to-lug, with a thin stepped bezel and straight, faceted lugs that sit close to the wrist. The original crown, in fluted steel, is set flush with the case middle. The Crystal is mineral. The watch is presented on a later camel leather strap, in Lug width of 18mm.

What is the Constellation line at Omega?
The house’s chronometer line. A chronometer is not a chronograph: it is a movement subjected to an official precision test, over several days, in several positions and at several temperatures, before being cased. Omega reserved this designation for the Constellation, heir to the precision records the manufacture had been accumulating in observatory trials since the 1930s. This is why the dial bears, in full, Chronometer.
What is the Omega 712 calibre?

Is the dial original?
Yes. The brushing is even right to the edge, the applied markers are made in a single piece, and the four printed lines — Constellation, Omega, Chronometer, Automatic — are sharp and correctly spaced, which a redial rarely achieves all at once. This dial has not been retouched.
Does it need to be worn every day to keep running?
It is an automatic movement: it winds through wrist motion and retains 42 hours of running time once wound. Worn regularly, it requires nothing. Left at rest for two days, it stops and starts again with a few gentle turns of the wrist or about ten turns of the crown. It has neither date nor window to reset: only the time needs to be set again.
Is this piece suitable for a slim or a larger wrist?
With a diameter of 34.5mm, 38.5mm Lug-to-lug, and a thickness of 7.3mm, it suits wrists of around 15 to 18.5cm — a guide, never a rule: everyone wears what they like. Its thinness matters here as much as its diameter: at 7.3mm, it slips under a cuff without catching and appears more discreet than a round watch of the same size twice as thick. The 18mm Lug width is one of the most common, which leaves a full choice of replacement straps.
