Omega 14613 — A Swiss hand-wound dress watch from the 1950s
This vintage Omega, produced in 1959, is a Swiss dress watch from one of the finest periods of the Neuchâtel manufacture. Reference 14613, compact 33mm size, brushed steel case with sculpted and curved lugs typical of late-1950s Omega pieces — the era when Omega rivaled Patek Philippe in elegant hand-wound calibers and supplied the world’s greatest heads of state.
The silvered dial is punctuated by applied Arabic numerals 12, 3, 6, 9 in a copper-gilded relief and applied baton indexes at the remaining positions. The Omega signature and the Ω symbol appear just beneath 12 o’clock, in the classic graphic composition of the period. The small seconds at 6 o’clock, in a subdial framed by an engraved cross, adds the traditional horological touch that sets this piece apart from three-hand dress watches. The golden dauphine hands complete the composition with elegance.
The dial shows pronounced patina with foxing (oxidation marks) characteristic of Omega silvered dials from the 1950s — for seasoned collectors, this is precisely what gives the piece its historical value and authenticity, bearing witness to more than 65 years of existence. No redialing or restoration: the dial is strictly original.
Driven by the Omega caliber 268, a hand-wound 17-jewel movement, one of the most respected references in Omega’s elegant 1950s watchmaking. The Crystal acrylic (plexi) crystal, in very good condition (9/10), protects the dial and lends that slightly domed visual softness that modern sapphires never reproduce. Mounted on a textured navy blue leather strap with contrasting stitching, this vintage Omega is aimed at enthusiasts of true collector’s timepieces. Selected, authenticated and serviced by Atelier Victor. Fast and secure international shipping.

Frequently asked questions
-
What is the Omega calibre 268?
The calibre 268 is a hand-wound movement produced by Omega in the late 1950s, with 17 jewels and offset small seconds. It is part of the great family of Omega manual dress calibres (268, 269, 285...) that equipped the manufacture's dress watches at a time when Omega was competing with Patek Philippe in high-end calibres. It is a movement renowned for its robustness and precision. -
What is a patina dial / a dial with foxing?
Foxing refers to the small brown or ochre spots that naturally appear on vintage silvered dials after several decades, under the effect of humidity and light. Far from being a defect, these marks are now sought after by collectors as proof of authenticity: they guarantee that the dial is strictly original, never repainted or restored. A “tropical” dial (turned an even brown) or a dial patinated with foxing can even enhance a piece. -
What does “redial” mean and why is it important?
A redial refers to a dial that has been repainted to erase patina or damage. In the vintage market, a redialled dial causes the piece to lose 30 to 50% of its value because it erases historical authenticity. This Omega 14613 retains its strictly original dial, with no restoration whatsoever — a strong argument for collectors. -
Is the 33mm format small?
By contemporary standards, yes — modern watches are often 40–42mm. But 33mm is the typical historical size of 1950s–60s dress watches: it is this format that defines classic vintage elegance. This size is perfectly suited to slim to medium wrists (up to 17–18cm wrist circumference), for both women and men. -
Should this watch be wound every day?
Yes. Since the Omega 268 caliber is hand-wound, you need to turn the crown about twenty times each morning to give the watch the energy it needs to run. This daily ritual is part of the charm of a true vintage mechanical movement. -
What is the international delivery time?
