The Movado Museum finds its origin in 1947, when American designer Nathan George Horwitt imagined a dial of unprecedented simplicity. Its design is based on a sleek black background, devoid of traditional numbers or markers, with a single gold dot at 12 o'clock. This dot represents the sun at its zenith, while the hands symbolize the movement of time. Its minimalist approach is inspired by the Bauhaus movement, which advocates for functionality and simplicity in design.

This innovative dial did not immediately find a buyer. It would take more than a decade before Movado, a Swiss brand founded in 1881, officially adopted this design and integrated it into its collection.

In 1960, the watch became the first to be exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, thus cementing its status as a design masterpiece. This moment marked a turning point for Movado, which made this model its emblem.

Over the decades, the Museum Watch has established itself as a horological icon. It is available in several versions: steel, gold-plated, or titanium cases, as well as special editions. Available in quartz or automatic movement, it transcends eras without losing its identity.

Today, the Movado Museum remains an essential watch for lovers of design and timeless elegance. Its sleek dial continues to embody an artistic vision of time, faithful to the avant-garde spirit of Nathan George Horwitt.
